The warm consistent growing season pushed a larger than average crop to uniform ripeness efficiently. Pretty, dense aromas of rose petal, dark cherries, cocoa, anise and cardamom. Sweet cherry and plum entry with a zesty mid palate reminiscent of baking spices, leading into an opulent, elegant, lingering finish. Suggested Pairings: The richness of this wine pairs well with fatty, rich meats, such as lamb, duck, and stewed curries, as well as artisanal cheeses and wild mushrooms.

St. Gregory Pinot Noir 2015, Mendocino$19.00Add to cart
This is the 23rd release of the St. Gregory Mendocino Pinot Noir 2015, Mendocino County’s cool climate produces a very elegant and rich style of Pinot Noir with balanced acidity, dark color, full tannins and very fruity flavors. Their style is much more French Burgundy than California. The grapes for this wine come from three truly unique vineyards located within three distinct appellations within Mendocino County. 79% of the blend is from Lost Creek Vineyards owned by Steve Petrucci and is located at the 1,200 foot elevation in the mountainous Yorkville Highlands appellation. 7% is from the Naughty Boy Vineyard located in the high elevation Potter Valley, which is grown next to the headwaters of the Russian River. 14% is Pinotage which is grown by the Gearhart Vineyard which is located in Knights Valley, just south of the Ukiah Valley in Mendocino County.
This wine is dark purple garnet in color and Burgundian in style; with rich, full and attractive aromas/flavors of ripe black cherries, plum, toasty oak and hints of earth. Soft tannins, balanced acidity and a rich, velvety mouth-feel produce a luscious wine that is enjoyable now and will develop more complexity with additional aging in the bottle.
Delicious companions with this wine are duck with dried cherries, sage-roasted double pork chops with stuffing, and roasted lamb with Mediterranean vegetables.
Steele Pinot Noir 2015 Sangiacomo Vineyard, Carneros$42.00Add to cart
The Sangiacomo Vineyards are situated in many areas of southern Sonoma County in the area known as Carneros. For many years this was just grazing land, thought to be too cold for the production of fine quality wine grapes. To look at the land one would agree that grapes should not do well here: the heavy adobe clay soil and the lack of sun seemed to contradict the accepted viticultural wisdom. However, for varieties which do best in cooler conditions, especially Pinot Noir, this is the place. Since there are many different vineyard blocks,Steele Wines keeps each separate during the fermentation and aging of the Steele Pinot Noir Carneros 2015.
Steele has worked with Pinot Noir from Sangiacomo since their first vintage in 1991. Each year they choose the best lots and produce a single vineyard bottling in exceptional years. This blend is a beautiful and consistent expression of Pinot Noir: medium color and the pronounced aroma of Bing cherries and raspberries, combined with a silky, smooth structure, slight earthiness and mild tannin create perfect balance and a delicious, lingering finish. We recommend roast pheasant with a cherry and almond chutney, or with creamy polenta with mushrooms and eggplant.
Stoller Pinot Noir 2017, Dundee Hills, OR$31.00Add to cart
Bill Stoller was born on the property and raised on the family farm outside of Dayton, Oregon. Bill’s decision to transform the family farm into a vineyard stemmed from much more than wishful thinking. With the help of Burgundian winemaker Patrice Rion and local vineyard consultants, Bill confirmed that the very factors that made this land a poor choice for turkey farming were perfect for an award-winning vineyard. In 1995, Bill planted 10 acres each of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, combining the experience of consulting viticulturists with innovative vineyard techniques in order to maximize the grape’s quality. Crafted exclusively from estate fruit, the Stoller Dundee Hills Pinot Noir 2015 is made in an elegant, approachable style. It has aromas of brambleberry and cherry with floral notes of lilac and violets and understated hints of cola and cinnamon. The palate features a purity of red fruit flavors, bright acidity and medium tannins. This approachable wine pairs well with a variety of foods, including cedar plank grilled salmon with tarragon aioli, pulled pork with cherry chutney and pickled onions, creamed morel mushrooms with shallots and hard cheeses, especially Comté. 92 Points Wine Spectator.

Trecini Pinot Noir 2015, Russian River Valley$45.00Add to cart
From the historical town of Jera, in Tuscany, Italy, John Vicini brought with him the passion and love of wine that were handed from one generation to another for over 150 years. Now living and working with Cathy, his wife, and David, their son, they bring to you exceptional wines from the gently rolling vineyard covered hills of Sonoma County, the Russian River, and the Dry Creek Valley. Starting in 1994, John and Cathy grew and sold their own premium Russian River grapes. In 1999 they expanded their family's business to developing and introducing their own label, Trecini, representing the three Vicini's. Due to the 2015's cooler climate and lower yields, the 2015 Trecini Pinot Noir shows a great deal of finesse and more of the softer undertones. The nose of this incredible Pinot brings you right to the vineyard with a real sense of terroir and an abundance of sweet fresh red fruits, mature strawberry, raspberries, and red currants. The well balanced and finesse is followed down the palate matching the aromas which are engaged by notes of exotic spices, red licorice, cola, and just a slight hint of menthol. The 777 clone does come through with the velvety palate bringing the spice while the 828 helps balance with more of the minerality and colas. Aging this Pinot Noir in French Oak for 10 months developed more complexity and enhanced the mouth feel.
