Capo Creek Ranch Old Vine Zinfandel 2016$32.00Add to cart
I am always impressed by what people did before the wine world. Here's two sisters – Mary and Nadine Roy who owned and operated a radiology business in Illinois and now have been running Capo Creek Ranch for the last 4 years. Mary Roy is the mother of six and previous owner/lead physician of Midwest Center for Advanced Imaging, specializing in MRI and Women's Imaging. Nadine Roy was a co-owner and executive director of that business and has now been certified as a sommelier and works alongside her sister, the winemaker.
This estate old vine zinfandel from Dry Creek Valley is full of juicy fruit flavors dominated by dark cherry, black raspberry & pomegranate. Red licorice and a touch of spice from choice oak barrels balance it nicely and adds a complexity that makes every sip a delight.

Carol Shelton Coquille Blanc 2018, Paso Robles, CA$24.00Add to cart
Carol Shelton originally created the 2008 version of this wine to celebrate the 10th anniversary as a winery in 2010. With the exotic complexity and food friendliness of a white Rhone-style blend, it is a “red-drinker’s white,” a complex alternative to the more one-dimensional white varietal wines like Chardonnay and Sauvignon blanc. It is the perfect complement to its namesake shellfish, as well as chicken or pork dishes with buttery-creamy sauces. Exotic nose of spicy pears and white peaches, almond paste/marzipan, a touch of honeysuckle perfume. Multi-dimensional, a hard-to-describe range of aromatics, intriguing, almost mysterious! In the mouth it is crisply dry yet creamy and round and full-bodied, with nice almond paste on crisp-yet-juicy pear fruit. 46% Grenache Blanc 24% Roussanne 24% Viognier 6% Marsanne. 1203 cases produced.
Carol Shelton Karma Reserve Zinfandel 2016$29.00Add to cart
The name of the Carol Shelton Reserve Karma Zinfandel 2016 was bestowed in gratitude for the many gifts of good Karma received in life, whatever the source. When positive energy is put forth in hard work mixed with integrity, the giver is rewarded with success, the fulfillment of a dream. Quite lively and fragrant with ripe blueberry, raspberry and blackberry fruits, tart pomegranate and red Jolly ranchers! Cedar box, brown spices- nutmeg/cinnamon, cherry cola, dark chocolate, a soft whiff of violets, creamy vanilla oak, kick of pepper spice. Very complexly layered weaving of fruit and spice, uber-dense and deep—wow! Rich in mouth, bright berry fruit tang like a wonderful berry cobbler, good structure for aging, a bit chewy in its youth.

Carol Shelton Wild Thing Zinfandel 2015$24.00Add to cart
The Carol Shelton Old Vine Mendocino Zinfandel 2015 is a treasure. Grown on the benchlands and slopes of mountainsides — this 60 plus year old vine Zinfandel was named for these wild- looking vines and also for the uninoculated, or “wild,” yeast ferment that was used to create it. Aromas of black cherry, ripe plum and raspberry fruit combine with a hint of graphite, cigar box, and vanilla-oak baking spice loveliness. Smoothly textured in mouth, and the palate is very creamy and round, with a finish that is long with lush jammy fruit. 80% Zinfandel, 10% Carignane, 9% Petite Sirah, 1% Alicante Bouschet.
Champ de Reves Pinot Noir 2014, Anderson Valley$42.00Add to cart
As a winegrowing region, there is no other Pinot Noir AVA in America that has more potential than Anderson Valley in Mendocino. The features of the valley are a Mecca for the cultivation of Pinot: here one finds daily, cooling maritime influence, dramatic geological contours with high mountains on either side of the valley, rocky soils and a mix of classic California flora and trees. The Champ de Reves spectacular vineyard is perched high above Boonville in the hills of Anderson Valley, just 18 miles from the Pacific coastline. Boone Ridge is a veritable aerie, with sweeping views of the valley below. A wide array of aspects in the vineyard creates multiple mesoclimates, each displaying unique characteristics as these relatively young vines continue to age.
The Champ de Reves 2014 Pinot Noir shows vibrant blueberry-strawberry fruit intertwined with aromas of dark-red rose, maple, licorice, and toasted hazelnut. On the palate, juicy raspberry, dark cocoa, and pennyroyal flavors emerge. Delicately-balanced acidity and crystalline minerality lead into a firmly structured finish.
Champagne Palmer Brut Reserve, Reims, France$51.00Add to cart
Palmer Brut Reserve is based on a selection of wines from the best vineyards in the Champagne region. The Premiers and Grands Crus from the Montagne de Reims area predominate and lend their distinctive personality to these wines.
The nose, amazingly clean, is expressed through a rich palette of aromas, including citrus, pear and apricot with some subtle notes of hazelnut and a discreet touch of buttery brioche.
Succulent and substantial to the palate, yet with an unfettered freshness, this wine is eminently seductive: a model of perfect balance.
Chateau de Beaucastel 2018 Rouge$108.00Add to cart
A dark and winey style, the Beaucastel Chaeauneuf du Pape Rouge 2018 offers a mix of plum, black currant and black cherry notes, infused with black tea, fruitcake and anise accents. Solidly built, vibrant and energetic from start to finish, this carries copious fruit easily through the lengthy finish. Grenache, Cinsault, Syrah, Mourvèdre and Counoise. The Grenache and Cinsault are fermented in cement, while the Syrah and Mourvèdre are in foudre. Finely pixellated fruits of the forest aromas with a full bodied but fresh and lively palate. The Mourvèdre element is strong, bringing vibrancy and power. It’s firmly savoury, very dry and dramatic. A seriously structured Beaucastel for the long term.
This beautiful wine shows ridiculous floral and fresh aromas of licorice, lavender and spice, all backed by tremendous fruit that goes beyond black and red and into hints of exotic stone fruit. It’s rich and concentrated yet silky and lithe, with a fantastically long, elegant finish.
