Mutt Lynch MBF Primitivo 2017, Speedy Creek Vineyard, Knights’s Valley

Home > Red - All wines > Unique Reds > Mutt Lynch MBF Primitivo 2017, Speedy Creek Vineyard, Knights’s Valley

Mutt Lynch Winery was born in 1995 combining Brenda Lynch’s passion for wine and “all things dog.”   The motto for the winery comes from Sark – Apply Dog Logic to Life: Eat Well, Be Loved, Get Petted, Sleep Alot, Dream of a Leash-Free World.  Brenda’s first wine was a Zinfandel called Domaine du Bone.  The whimisical names and labels continue, but the wine is serious – seriously good!  Mutt Lynch Winery is proud to support local and national animal organizations in their tireless efforts to save pets’ lives and continue the efforts of such organizations as Canine Companions for Independence.   In communities throughout the country, Mutt Lynch partners with wine shops, restaurants and local animal rescue groups in support of their fundraising efforts.  The 2017 Mutt Lynch MBF Primitivo, the ninth vintage of the MBF (Man’s Best Friend) Primitivo, is truly delicious. Primitivo is a close cousin to Zinfandel. Its name derives from the terms primativus or primaticcio, which refer to the grape’s tendency to ripen earlier than other varieties. However, Speedy Creek Vineyard’s hillside location and more extreme growing conditions produce small intensely flavored berries that ripen later in the growing season.  Always evocative of the Italian province of Apulia (Puglia), this varietal is legendary (think last supper legendary). In the 2016 expression, you’ll be struck by the beautiful garnet color and nose of black cherries and hint of pepper. It’s smooth on entry, medium-bodied and with a flavor palette of cherries, blackberries and licorice. Light in tannins but well-structured, this is one smooth wine! This wine would pair well with a dry Sonoma Jack, Gouda or Gruyere cheese. For a stellar entrée pairing try it with lamb kabobs.  142 cases produced.

  • Stolpman La Cuadrilla 2018

    $25.00

When Tom Stolpman purchased the land that is now Stolpman Vineyards, he declared that if his dream of owning a vineyard was to come true, it would not be on the backs of people being taken advantage of.  He asked vineyard manager Ruben Solorzano to employ our vineyard workers year-round, so the team members could have a steady job, a career, and raise their families with security. A man of action, Ruben started a training program in which he gave one Cuadra – a small vineyard block – to his team so they would take responsibility for their land.  Each crew member became the farmer rather than just the worker. The profits are returned to the crew members in the form of a year-end bonus. The 2017 label honors the founder of Cuadrilla, Ruben Solorzano. Ruben is envisioned as one of the Red Tailed Hawks that glide in the wind above the vineyard every afternoon.  He oversees the crew and the vines with an all-knowing presence.  The Hawk is emblazoned with picking sheers, a symbol for only touching the vines by hand rather than by machine – as well as moons in different phases, as they work the ground and the vines based on variances in lunar gravity. Stolpman 2018 La Cuadrilla pops with a blast of fresh red plum, boysenberry, and blueberry fruit.  Enjoyable out of the gate, the full-bodied wine’s power is totally in check – with tannin and acidity already integrated into the pure juiciness that lasts way through the finish.  This wine is going to make a lot of folks very happy with the crew!

The Owen Roe Abbot’s Table 2017 honors the most fundamental form of hospitality through the ages -the meal. The Abbot’s Table traditionally provides an opportunity for fellowship with guests over food and wine. This wine, with its unique varietal diversity, is rich in red fruit notes, with balanced flavors and acidity, exuding charm and texture. It pairs beautifully with many flavors and feasts. The grapes for this wine come from their estate vineyards as well as vineyards farmed by other dedicated families in beautiful eastern Washington State. Reminiscent of the bold Abbot’s Table blends of past vintages, this 2017 bottling is rich and structured. A beautiful garnet red hue is luscious with bursting aromas of black currants, blueberry and cherry. A layer of white pepper spice and tobacco are interlaced with gripping acidity, roasted red pepper and earth notes. This bright red blend is youthful and shows great cellaring potential! The 2017 Abbot’s is beautifully structured with bright acidity and fine mouth-coating tannins. Enjoy this wonderful blend with barbecued pork.  47% Sangiovese, 22% Zinfandel, 19% Blaufrankish, 12% Malbec.
