2016 Portalupi Old Vine Zinfandel Dolinsek Ranch Russian River Valley Sonoma USA

Home > Region > Region - California > 2016 Portalupi Old Vine Zinfandel Dolinsek Ranch Russian River Valley Sonoma USA

Dolinsek Ranch, a magical vineyard planted over 104 years ago by the Frati family, has produced outstanding wines throughout the 20th century. The soil is a rich sandy-Goldridge loam and is located just off the famous Laguna Road, one of the best terroirs of the Russian River Valley. The 2016 vintage shows elegance and length, medium tannins, coupled with lush liquor like berry fruit and white pepper. The purity of aromas is the main characteristic of this medium-bodied Zinfandel. Superb with grilled meats and sharp, earthy cheeses. Only 220 cases produced.

Gold Medal for the 2012 vintage at the 2014 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition.

Now in its seventeenth vintage, Brown 2019 Chaos Theory continues to echo their journey through the world of wine, consistently proving that the best is yet to come, there’s always something to look forward to, and no matter how random or chaotic things may seem there is method and meaning to all that we do and experience. Simply put, all’s well that ends well!
Brilliant dark magenta core with ruby rim. Lively nose of ripe Rainier cherries, blackberry compote, winter spice, and heavy cream leads to Asian apple and Meyer lemon followed by dark chocolate, tiramisu, and fresh baked croissants/brioche. Time in the glass brings forth ripe black fruit and dark chocolate underpinning primary notes of graphite, pencil shavings, green pepper, vineyard dust, and anise. Silky mouthfeel, medium-bodied yet markedly vibrant. Over time the integration of its blended components will make this a wine to revisit again and again, each bottle revealing a new dimension as it evolves. 55% Napa Valley Cabernet Franc, 35% Brown Estate Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Monte Rosso Zinfandel  3500 cases made.

  • Mauritson Rockpile Zinfandel 2019, Rockpile Ridge

    Add to cart
    $47.00

The Mauritson family’s Rockpile Ridge Vineyard is located at nearly 1,200-ft. elevation in the Rockpile appellation. This vineyard has sweeping sun exposures from southeast to northwest and consists of nine distinctly different blocks of Zinfandel. The blocks are all harvested at different times and fermented separately to insure the integrity and uniqueness of the individual blocks. Freshly crushed berry fruit is complemented by richer notes of cocoa and sweet oak on the nose of this gorgeous Zinfandel. The 2019 Rockpile Ridge Zinfandel carries all of the signature aromas expected from Zinfandel grown in Rockpile: candied cherry and plum; dark cocoa; ground roasted coffee; savory dried herbs and sweet earth. This incredible iteration of Rockpile Ridge Zinfandel is singularly defined by its detailed texture. It’s vibrant, yet concentrated; elegant, yet bold; velvety, yet powerful. Then it ultimately resolves into a seamless and persistent finish. This energetic Zin will benefit from at least 1-2 years of bottle age. Enjoy over the next 10-12 years.

  • Kokomo Dry Creek Zinfandel 2019

    Add to cart
    $32.00

Kokomo Dry Creek Zinfandel 2019 is comprised of fruit from three different vineyards: Mizany Vineyard, Timber Crest Vineyard, and Pauline’s Vineyard. Although all are located in Dry Creek Valley, the different vineyards bring three unique wines with their own distinct personalities. Mizany Vineyard is planted to the DuPratt clone of Zinfandel, which has a spicier character with a darker fruit profile. Timber Crest and Pauline’s Vineyards are both planted to the old mother-clone of Dry Creek, but are grown on two very different sites. Pauline’s Vineyard is on the valley floor in the famous Cortina gravelly loam, while Timber Crest Vineyard, the oldest of all three vineyards, is planted on the East Bench behind our winery.  The 2019 Kokomo Zinfandel is classy and elegant, displaying a ravishing garnet color and showing the bright acidity and fruit of black cherry and smoky plum. Rustic yet plush, aromas of cherry, anise, and underbrush give way to focused flavors of red plum, smoky herb, and pepper.
