Beaucastel Chateauneuf du Pape Vieilles Vignes 2018

Home > Country > Country - France > Beaucastel Chateauneuf du Pape Vieilles Vignes 2018

The 2018 Châteauneuf du Pape Roussanne Vieilles Vignes combines luxurious richness—honeyed pineapple lushness—with clean, vibrant zest and brine notes to make for an interesting juxtaposition in its youth that demands time in the cellar to meld together into a harmonious whole. In one of the mysteries of the wine world, it will then stay on that plateau of decadent maturity for a decade or more.

The 2018 Châteauneuf Du Pape Blanc Roussanne Vieilles Vignes is all Roussanne and comes from a three-hectare parcel of vines planted in 1901. It offers a heavenly bouquet of white currants, white flowers, honeysuckle, and toasted bread that opens up beautifully with time in the glass. Rich, full-bodied, powerful and concentrated, it stays perfectly balanced on the palate and has that rare sense of richness paired with freshness that’s the hallmark of truly great wines.

Locations sourced the fruit for the French Rosé from a vineyard in the south of France, opting, this time, to produce a rose from 100% Grenache. Sourced from vineyard blocks that cling to granite and schist slopes; these 50-year-old dry farmed vines produce very low yields of perfectly concentrated fruit. Fermented at very cool temperatures in stainless steel tanks; this wine displays both a delicacy and vibrancy characteristic to the maritime influences of the Medateranian sea. A perfect wine to enjoy dining alfresco on a warm summer evening. The entry is fresh and supple with a raspberry foundation that is accentuated with tangerine and strawberry notes. The finish is a sprightly one thanks to flinty, stony details and bright tones of acidity.

    $44.00

The French named the grape “Roussanne” after the elusive rust color that develops late in the year, usually not until November. Cold nights and limestone ensure the Stolpman Roussanne 2018 retains balance even as the Thanksgiving holiday approached.  The intense Santa Barbara sun and the absence of harvest-time rain combine to ensure the grapes taste fresh and vibrant. This is a voluptuously rich, full-bodied white wine.  The 2018 Roussanne remains bright and lively thanks to relatively high acid from the addition of a small amount of Chardonnay.  This wine is exceedingly approachable now, or cellar it two to five years for an even more luxuriously rich profile. A creamy mouthfeel with a bouquet of white flower, lemon meringue, and sweet cedar.  Pair it with Sushi, Ramen, or Pho! Or throw some shrimp on the barbecue!

At Lanson, we’re among those who believe in love. Love for the soil, for the terroir, of a job well done, A sustainable love, a love of sharing, of being together, of making people happy.
At Lanson, we will always stand for the values of openness, kindness, humility, authenticity and elegance.Since 1760, we’ve been for those who hold out a hand, who love each other, and prove it. Each in their own way, but always the most beautiful way. Lanson, it’s all about Love.
When you’ve been doing it since 1760 and your efforts are centered on love, you really can’t go wrong.
Le Black Label Brut owes its iconic name to Victor Lanson who gave it in 1937, both as a proof of openness to the world and as a tribute to the Royal Court of England which Lanson has been officially supplying since 1900. This champagne is a balanced alliance of vitality and finesse, freshness and elegance, characteristic of the Lanson Style. Enjoy the bouquet of ripe fruits with citrus notes and a sense of maturity with freshness and lightness as well. 92 Points Wine Enthusiast.
