Bokisch Albarino 2017

Home > Region > Region - California > Bokisch Albarino 2017

The Bokisch 2016 Albariño, Terra Alta Vineyard is like drinking “spring in a glass”! It is light straw in color with a tinge of green. The aromatics are incredible. Swirl in the glass and you smell orange blossoms (Azahar), Meyer lemon, Granny Smith apples, wisteria flowers and a touch of salty sea mist. It has a crisp, clean acidity that is balanced by the delicious flavors of candied tangerine, ripe kiwi, pink grapefruit and a wet slate minerality that is typical of Albariños from Galicia. It has a round lengthy finish that keeps you wishing for more.  Tired of Chardonnay – try this! This is the perfect accompaniment to your appetizer of tuna tartare with avocado.

Although Markus Bokisch was raised in California, he spent his childhood summers in Spain with his family. In the Spanish tradition, he was given wine with water at meals.Little did Markus know, his tastebuds from then on were programmed towards Spanish wines. Using their Spanish connections Markus and Liz Bokisch began importing budwood and in 1999 they planted the Las Cerezas Vineyard, known as their “motherblock,” of Tempranillo, Albariño and Graciano. Garnacha Blanca, known as Grenache Blanc in France is the white berried form of Garnacha which originated in Spain’s northeast corner. It is medium bodied and aged in a small percentage of neutral white oak barrels. It is a perfect balance of fresh fruity characters such as white peaches, orange blossom and thyme combined with smooth creamy flavors of melon and apple cider. This drought friendly grape grows fabulously in California! Garnacha Blanca: Perfect summer wine. Soft & silvery on the tongue. A lovely minerality that lingers on the palate in the very best way. Enjoy with grilled scallops and asparagus and say hello to heaven! 260 cases produced.

  • Domaine Laporte Sancerre La Comtesse 2016, Loire Valley

    $42.00

Domaine Laporte is the result of a perfect blending of two renowned Sancerre families. Founded in 1850 in the village of Saint-Satur, Domaine Laporte was run until 1986 by René Laporte. A visionary chair of the Sancerre appellation for 20 years, René was a pioneer in producing low-yield, high-quality Sancerre during a time of overproduction.A well-known winegrower from Chavignol, Henri Bourgeois purchased the domaine from René, keeping the old vineyard, cellar and house – and maintaining the excellent reputation. Now under the watchful eyes of Henri’s two grandsons, Arnaud and Cedric Bourgeois, Domaine Laporte is one of the most highly respected estates in the Loire Valley. Ripe stone fruits accompanied by herbal and floral notes, the palate is enriched with a subtle nutty, honeyed character. Undoubtedly an opulent style of Sancerre, but finely poised too and certainly not lacking freshness.

Made by famed winemaker, Heidi Barrett, the 2015 Paradigm Merlot is well suited to the Oakville district of Napa Valley. This 2015 is a deep ruby color with aromas of red and black plums, cherry, dried herbs, and light toasty oak. Flavors match the aromas. A mouth-filling, seamless silky wine across the palate. Clean yet layered with light dusty tannins. Wonderful mid-palate texture with good length. Somewhat more concentration, typical of the 2015 vintage. Should age well for 10-15 years or more.
