Cabernet 2012, Frediani Vineyards
The 2012 Cabernet, Frediani Vineyards is full of toasted spices, sun-warmed earth and wild dark fruits. A wonderful expression of black currants in a lush package of balanced acidity and fine textured tannins. There is definitely that touch of oak with little licorice and a bit of bittersweet chocolate.
CADE Estate Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon 2014$108.00
With a shared vision, Gavin Newsom, Gordon Getty and John Conover imagined the addition of a complementary estate vineyard to the valley floor terroir of their Oakville estate at PlumpJack Estate Winery. In 2005, that dream came to fruition in the form of a 54-acre estate, elevated high above the fog line, on the dramatic slopes of Howell Mountain – it would become CADE Estate Winery. The CADE Estate Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon 2014 dazzles with its opulent, brambly blue and blackberry layers, balanced by dark chocolate and an incredibly welcoming personality. This gorgeous wine is unusually open, resonant and richly layered. Hints of smoke, tar, licorice and minerality add complexity to the intense dark fruit. “This is a wine I want to drink, not merely taste”, says winemaker Danielle Cyrot. All the elements come together in an effortless, inviting wine loaded with layers of intrigue.

Cain Cuvee NV12, Napa Valley, USA$40.00
The Cain Cuvée project began over twenty years ago and it is still a work in progress. That is the beauty of wine: each vintage is new, and each vintage is different. The NV11 is a blend of wines from both the 2010 and the 2011 harvests, two of the cooler years in the past two decades. Expect freshness and a bit more structure than usual. Cain Cuvée is not your typical Napa red wine; no big, inky, oaky blockbuster here. This Cuvée is intended to sit lightly, refreshingly on your palate. There is all the fruit that you could want, but the Cain Cuvée is not fruit juice. It is, most assuredly, fine wine for serious wine-lovers who value complexity, balance, and finish. The Cain Cuvée is for those who know that wine doesn’t have to be big to be good.
