The 2012 Cabernet, Frediani Vineyards is full of toasted spices, sun-warmed earth and wild dark fruits. Madrigal Cabernet Sauvignon 2014, Napa Valley, CA$45.00Add to cart
Since the late 1930's, three generations of the Madrigal family have farmed some of Napa Valley’s finest vineyards. Chris Madrigal’s father, Jess, a retired member of the US military, started the family’s vineyard management company that today manages over 800 acres. In 1985 – the same year that Chris began to work with his father’s vineyard management company – they began overseeing the vineyards of Clos Pegase and Duckhorn wineries and growing grapes for other premium wineries including Cakebread Cellars and Chateau Montelena. As their reputation soared and while still working the vineyards as often as seven days a week, Chris realized his dream of establishing the family’s own winery. From the outstanding 2014 vintage, this is a big, rich Napa Valley Cabernet with dark fruit and spice aromas and a hearty core of currant and black cherry flavors. The Madrigal Cabernet Sauvignon 2014, Napa Valley has all of the Bordeaux varietals in it (75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Petit Verdot, 8% Cabernet Franc, 3% Malbec, 2% Merlot and comes from Madrigal's Vineyard and Levine Vineyard on Atlas Peak. The wine has excellent balance, soft tannins and a long, delicious finish. 1461 cases produced.
MC4 Cabernet Sauvignon 2016$75.00Add to cart
The Martin & Croshaw vineyard is located in the St. Helena appellation of Napa Valley. The vines grow in an ideal location on a gently sloping hillside on the west side of the valley with excellent soil (Boomer gravelly loam) for the cultivation of Cabernet Sauvignon. Cabernet Sauvignon clones 337 and 6 were selected for the 2000 vines which are carefully oriented to fully capture the unique terroir of the site. They farm organically, and work is done by shovel and sweat. Irrigation is limited and they selectively thin the grapes to produce a concentrated, full bodied wine. It is a labor of love and of friendship.
The MC4 Cabernet Sauvignon 2016 is a gorgeous wine, sporting a medium to deep garnet-purple color and nose of crushed wild blueberries, black cherries and mulberries with touches of cigar box, baking spices and dark chocolate plus a waft of sage. Medium to full-bodied, the palate features appealing restraint, with taut, muscular fruit and fantastic tension, finishing long and softly textured. This is a relatively new, single-vineyard wine co-produced by two couples—Paul and Lisa Martin and Fred and Darcy Croshaw. The grapes come from a tiny one-acre, organically farmed vineyard to the north of Ehlers Lane in St. Helena. The style of these three vintages tasted is fresh, elegant and understated, possessing bags of energy and expression at what appears to be a very reasonable price.
