Capo Creek Grenache Noir 2016
Heady and fruity notes of black raspberry and cherry. This light bodied Capo Creek Grenache Noir 2015 seems to be perfect with almost everything….literally! We like it with a Cotswold cheese-covered Pierogi (Mary’s classes coming,) but it also pairs well with checking homework and laundry.
Tenute Silvio Nardi Brunello di Montalcino 2012, Tuscany, Italy$87.00

Excellent for lying down. This deep, ruby-red wine has intense, complex aromas of red fruits and spices, with toasty oak notes. The wine shows a silky texture, great finesse and profound flavors, framed by noble, velvety tannins. Though impressive now, this wine will benefit from aging. If the perfect dinner for you is a big juicy steak, then this is the wine for you. Also great with rich fish like stugeon or grouper. 95 Points James Suckling, 92 Points Parker and Wine Spectator, 91 Points Galloni.
Foxen Cuvee Jeanne Marie 2014, Santa Ynez Valley$48.00
Bill Wathen and Dick Doré have been making wine together since 1985, when they founded Foxen Winery & Vineyard at the historic Rancho Tinaquaic in Northern Santa Barbara County. Since that time their dedication has remained the same: the creation of small production, sustainably-farmed, vineyard-focused wines using a straightforward and minimalist approach to winemaking. The winery is named in memory of William Benjamin Foxen, and English sea captain and Dick’s great-great grandfather. Benjamin Foxen came to Santa Barbara in the early 1800’s and purchased the historic Rancho Tinaquaic in 1837 with a Mexican Land Grant that totaled nearly 9000 acres. Foxen's 2014 Cuvée Jeanne Marie Williamson-Doré Vineyard, a Grenache/Syrah/Mourvedre blend is open, pliant and, not surprisingly, quite a bit more expressive than the Syrahs. Sweet red cherry, kirsch, hard candy and wild flowers abound in a wine that should drink well pretty much upon release. 91 Points – Wine Enthusiast 200 cases produced.
Volker Eisele Family Estate Terzetto Red Blend 2014, Chiles Valley Napa USA$75.00
Volker Eisele Family Estate is situated in the Chiles Valley District, one of fifteen grape growing appellations within the Napa Valley Viticultural Area. Cloaked in frequent Pacific fog, Chiles Valley is one of the cooler areas of the Napa Valley resulting in a long growing season. The valley's perfect cabernet climate enhances the development of wines with subtle flavors, full body, and overall complexity. The four hundred acre estate was originally part of the “Rancho Catacula” land grant, given to Joseph Bollinger Chiles in 1843 by the last Mexican governor of California. The Chiles family later sold a portion of their land to Francis Sievers, a German pioneer. In the 1870's, Sievers founded Lomita's Vineyard and Winery on the site. The original winery building, some of the tanks, and the original press constructed by Sievers still remain on the Estate. The oldest cabernet vines were planted by the Eiseles in 1975 and continue to yield fruit of superb quality. Over the past 35 years the Eiseles have enriched the vineyard soils through use of organic farming practices. No herbicides, pesticides or chemical fertilizers have been used. The vineyard is certified as organic by both the California Certified Organic Farmers and the California Department of Food and Agriculture. The Volker Eisele Terzetto is a blend of 1/3 Cabernet Sauvignon, 1/3 Cabernet Franc and 1/3 Merlot, aged 24 months in 70% new French oak from Treuil Cooperage, unfined and lightly filtered.
“The 2014 Terzetto Proprietary Red is a blend of equal parts Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot, which are co-fermented from their vineyard in Chiles Valley. Nice raspberry and blueberry fruit, sweet tannin, velvety texture, medium to full body, beautiful purity, a floral component and overall a lovely, seductive and compelling style. Drink it over the next 10 years.”
