Carol Shelton Karma Zinfandel 2016

Home > Region > Region - California > Carol Shelton Karma Zinfandel 2016

The name of the Carol Shelton Karma Zinfandel 2016 was bestowed in gratitude for the many gifts of good Karma received in life, whatever the source.  When positive energy is put forth in hard work mixed with integrity, the giver is rewarded with success, the fulfillment of a dream. Quite lively and fragrant with ripe blueberry, raspberry and blackberry fruits, tart pomegranate and red Jolly ranchers! Cedar box, brown spices- nutmeg/cinnamon, cherry cola, dark chocolate, a soft whiff of violets, creamy vanilla oak, kick of pepper spice. Very complexly layered weaving of fruit and spice, uber-dense and deep—wow! Rich in mouth, bright berry fruit tang like a wonderful berry cobbler, good structure for aging, a bit chewy in its youth. 235 cases produced.

77% Zinfandel blended with 12% Alicante Bouschet, 8% Petite Sirah 3% Carignane

The Graziano Zinfandel 2015, Mendocino, comes from 5 different old vine Zinfandel vineyards scattered throughout the benchlands and hillsides of Mendocino County. Old vine vineyards such as Tournour, Kazmet and Zeller grace this fine wine. Many of these vineyards are still farmed by 3rd and 4th generation Italian-Americans. This vintage displays a rich dark purple garnet color and deep aromas of black cherry, boysenberry, plum, spicy sandalwood with hints of toasty oak. Uplifting flavors of plum, black cherry cola and a subtle of earthiness combine to give this full-bodied Zinfandel a generous mouth-feel. Rich full tannins and balanced acidity lead into a long, lingering finish.Enjoy with garlic and rosemary seasoned lamb chops, Italian sausage or spicy tomato pasta dishes. A grilled burger with melted gorgonzola in one hand and this Zin in the other hand is what the good life is all about.

  • Robert Biale Black Chicken Zinfandel 2017

    $55.00

Years ago, near the end of Prohibition, Aldo Biale made and sold wine in secret. He sold his jugs of Zin to friends and neighbors on the “down low”, and the phone started ringing regularly for re-orders. The Biale’s phone was a party line, so nosy neighbors could listen in on conversations, including orders for produce, eggs and a jug of Aldo’s homemade wine from barrels he hid in the barn. Since they also raised and sold chickens, the code word for the wine became Black Chicken, and that name continues to this day. Early harvest yields high quality wine grape crop. The Oak Knoll winegrowing region is prevalent in this wine with its ripe aromatics and juicy acidity. The nose is full of vibrant Bing cherries, raspberries, cinnamon, white cake, fresh purple flowers, subtle dried herb and toasty brown spices. The entry is bright and gives way to supple, round tannins. The lovely finish is the signature of this elegant and remarkably balanced Zinfandel.

  • Mauritson Rockpile Zinfandel 2016, Rockpile Ridge

    Add to cart
    $47.00

The Mauritson family’s Rockpile Ridge Vineyard is located at nearly 1,200-ft. elevation in the Rockpile appellation. This vineyard has sweeping sun exposures from southeast to northwest and consists of nine distinctly different blocks of Zinfandel. The blocks are all harvested at different times and fermented separately to insure the integrity and uniqueness of the individual blocks. Freshly crushed berry fruit is complemented by richer notes of cocoa and sweet oak on the nose of this gorgeous Zinfandel. The entry is voluptuous, instantly coating your palate in velvety tannins. Fresh raspberry and baked blackberry cobbler exemplify the dichotomy of this wine: it is both lively and subtle, graceful and yet powerful. The broad nature of this wine is indicative of 2016’s ideal growing season, allowing for many years of graceful aging. Full- bodied, with balanced acidity, this wine will cellar beautifully for the next 7-9 years. 94 Points – Robert Parker.
