Carol Shelton Karma Zinfandel 2016

Home > Region > Region - California > Carol Shelton Karma Zinfandel 2016

The name of the Carol Shelton Karma Zinfandel 2016 was bestowed in gratitude for the many gifts of good Karma received in life, whatever the source.  When positive energy is put forth in hard work mixed with integrity, the giver is rewarded with success, the fulfillment of a dream. Quite lively and fragrant with ripe blueberry, raspberry and blackberry fruits, tart pomegranate and red Jolly ranchers! Cedar box, brown spices- nutmeg/cinnamon, cherry cola, dark chocolate, a soft whiff of violets, creamy vanilla oak, kick of pepper spice. Very complexly layered weaving of fruit and spice, uber-dense and deep—wow! Rich in mouth, bright berry fruit tang like a wonderful berry cobbler, good structure for aging, a bit chewy in its youth. 235 cases produced.

77% Zinfandel blended with 12% Alicante Bouschet, 8% Petite Sirah 3% Carignane

“This elegant Zinfandel is rich blackberry in color with open aromas of layered cherry and ripe raspberry, complemented by a seductive spice and mineral character. Beautifully structured and with great balance, the 2016 Lamborn Zin is full-bodied and rich with great length. The complex mouthfeel is perfectly integrated with toast and vanilla, and the characteristic black pepper and spicy undertones offer up to a silky and lingering finish. An exceptional example of mountaintop Zinfandel, the Lamborn vineyard is definitely in a league of its own.” – Heidi Barrett, winemaker

  • Brown Zinfandel 2018, Napa Valley, CA

    Add to cart
    $48.00

The Brown family started as growers in Napa back in the late 70's selling their fruit to such prestigious wineries as T-Vine, Grgich Hills and Green and Red. In 1995, they started their own label with consulting winemaker, Duane Dappen (D-Cubed) getting them going. That was a great day for the wine world! The flagship Napa Valley Zinfandel historically has borne the responsibility of being the ultimate representative of what the Brown property and its unique microclimate have to offer—the cream of the Brown Estate zinfandel crop blended into one stellar wine. As such, it is the most challenging zin they produce because it requires commingling of several distinct personalities into a singular well-adjusted protagonist. The fact that each vineyard’s qualities complement and enhance the others’ virtues is a testament to the integration, fluidity, and perpetual motion—the balancing act!—that is Brown Estate itself. Stunning gemstone magenta core and ruby rim. True on the nose to the hallmark Brown Estate bouquet of rose petals, lily of the valley, hibiscus flowers, Asian apple, and effervescent citrus followed by dried apricot and peach. Medium body with silky mouthfeel, the palate at first delivers a burst of ripe red fruits, heavy cream, and loads of cascading exotic spice, finishing with a surprise of subtle crushed black pepper. Seamlessly integrated, elegant, and engaging. Drink now through 2022 to experience ripe fresh fruit, thereafter for a less fruity, earthier experience. 1100 cases made.

Morisoli Vineyard is located in the heart of the Rutherford Bench, between Niebaum and Manley Lanes, at the base of Mount Saint John. This area has a worldwide reputation for producing complex, distinctive and age worthy wines. The unique terroir consists of well-drained, light, dusty, gravelly soil that produces grapes with vibrant flavor and impeccable balance. The resulting wines express equal parts power and finesse. This historic vineyard has been meticulously farmed by the Morisoli family for over a century. Each year, since 1987, Elyse Winery has been fortunate to produce a Cabernet Sauvignon and Zinfandel from this very special place in Napa Valley.

The 2014 Morisoli Zinfandel is aromatically teasing with scents of crushed berries, violets, bacon and cinnamon. It is lush all the way across the palate with bright but deep flavors of raspberry, blackberry and cassis with a creamy texture and ripe, leathery sweet tannins.
