Carol Shelton Wild Thing Zinfandel 2017
The Carol Shelton Old Vine Mendocino Zinfandel 2017 is a treasure. Grown on the benchlands and slopes of mountainsides — this 60 plus year old vine Zinfandel was named for these wild- looking vines and also for the uninoculated, or “wild,” yeast ferment that was used to create it. Aromas of black cherry, ripe plum and raspberry fruit combine with a hint of graphite, cigar box, and vanilla-oak baking spice loveliness. Smoothly textured in mouth, and the palate is very creamy and round, with a finish that is long with lush jammy fruit. 76% Old Vine Zinfandel, 15% old vine Carignane, 9% Petite Sirah

Rabble Zinfandel 2017$25.00
The Rabble Zinfandel 2017 comes from the Mossfire Ranch in Paso Robles. Aged in French and American oak, it is 100% Zinfandel. Atypical for Paso Robles Zinfandel, this gem exudes spicy raspberries in a dusty field of lavender and lilac. Opulence; an engulfing mouth feel of velvet cherries, rhubarb, brittle chocolate and finely crushed peppercorn. The finish is uplifting, with layers of bright acidity dancing on fine lush tannin. Part Primitivo in style, part California Zinfandel, this is the progeny of a dusty Paso Robles farmer and a stunning Italian minx.
Elyse Zinfandel 2013, Korte Ranch, Napa Valley, California, USA$41.00
Korte Ranch is located just north of the town of St. Helena along the Napa River on Ehlers Lane. It is truly one of the most distinctive and classic Zinfandel vineyards left in Napa Valley with the vines that Elyse Winery sources from being a minimum of 70 years old. It has been family owned for four generations and was a bonded winery before prohibition. The gnarly old head trained, dry farmed vines are planted where the eastern and western hillsides meet. This beautiful property is perfectly suited for high quality grape growing from the cool morning and nighttime temperatures to the loose soils of rocky loam which help make wine of unique and bold character. The Elyse Zinfandel 2013, Korte Ranch is beautifully deep garnet colored with intriguing aromas of black plum, blackberry pie, caramel, cinnamon, galangal root, incense, clove and orange zest. Lavishly textured with generous flavors of sweet blackberry, blueberry, cassis and the slightest hint of cracked black pepper and spice. Smooth entry with a broad mouthfeel, rich fruit and well integrated tannins lead to a finish that is long and lingering. 92 Points Wine Enthusiast. 1165 cases made.
Woodenhead Zinfandel 2014, Guido Venturi Vineyard, Mendocino County, USA$38.00
The winemaking at Woodenhead is pure and simple. Their wine is handcrafted from a hard labor of love in tune to the natural rhythm of the land, the water, the air, and the seasons. No mechanical pumping is employed. Inoculated yeast and malolactic cultures, hand punching, basket pressing, French oak, and California fruit is what you get. Small and unique lots are their goal, ultra premium wine is the result. The award winning Woodenhead Zinfandel 2014, Guido Venturi is a very dark ruby red, with tight aromas, but essences of sage, plum, and briar. What it withholds in aromatics right now, it more than makes up for on the palate. A big wine, viscous with plenty of legs, big, bright and juicy, berries, plums, rose, cedar cigar box. Full bodied for sure, jammy, spicy with some pepper. Moderate tannins. Medium long finish and complexity. A bomb! Pair it with BBQ, smoked meats, garlic bread. You get the picture!
