Daou Cabernet Sauvignon 2020
Standing alone at an elevation of 2,200 feet, the Daou mountain rises from the heart of the Adelaida District in the rugged coast range west of Paso Robles.
It is a terroir of symmetry, power and purity. Here, the Daou brothers’ vision is to produce California “first-growth” wine, fulfilling the Adelaida District’s destiny as the world’s next benchmark for Bordeaux varieties. The 2020 DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon displays a rich and exuberant nose withan abundance of ripe cherry, black plum, and Zante currants, accompanied by undertones of blackberry jam and crushed wet gravel. Highlights of coffee and pencil shavings are rounded out with notes of dried desert sage and baking spices. This cabernet is robust and full bodied on the palate with flavors of black cherry, cassis, and wild boysenberry. Subtle secondary layers of cranberry and blueberry are framed with hints of vanilla, black olive and fine leather. Beautifully balanced and precisely structured around a core of ripe tannins, the velvety texture slowly fades with lingering flavors of blackberry, plum and cocoa.
