Edmeades Zinfandel, Gianoli Vineyard 2013

Home > Region > Region - California > Edmeades Zinfandel, Gianoli Vineyard 2013

The Gianoli Ranch Vineyard is located in the Mendocino Ridge viticultural area. Because the mountain peaks cut through the fog cover, many locals refer to this region as ‘Islands in the Clouds’. The Mendocino Ridge covers more than a quarter-million acres, but only 75 acres of the entire viticultural area is planted. The Gianoli Family, who immigrated from Prata, Italy, homesteaded the ranch and planted about 20 acres of Zinfandel grapes around 1882. Approximately 8-9 acres were replaced in 1997 with 100 year old Pronsolino root stock.

The Edmeades Gianoli Vineyard Zinfandel 2013 starts off with intense fruit aromas of cherry preserves, framboise, and cinnamon, with more subtle background hints of wild sage, pine needles, and mushrooms. Ripe cherry and raspberry flavors are accentuated by warm spices and cracked black pepper notes. Soft tannins and balanced acidity elevate the fruit intensity. Dark chocolate, vanilla, and caramelized sugar tones linger on the finish.

The Owen Roe Abbot’s Table 2017 honors the most fundamental form of hospitality through the ages -the meal. The Abbot’s Table traditionally provides an opportunity for fellowship with guests over food and wine. This wine, with its unique varietal diversity, is rich in red fruit notes, with balanced flavors and acidity, exuding charm and texture. It pairs beautifully with many flavors and feasts. The grapes for this wine come from their estate vineyards as well as vineyards farmed by other dedicated families in beautiful eastern Washington State. Reminiscent of the bold Abbot’s Table blends of past vintages, this 2017 bottling is rich and structured. A beautiful garnet red hue is luscious with bursting aromas of black currants, blueberry and cherry. A layer of white pepper spice and tobacco are interlaced with gripping acidity, roasted red pepper and earth notes. This bright red blend is youthful and shows great cellaring potential! The 2017 Abbot’s is beautifully structured with bright acidity and fine mouth-coating tannins. Enjoy this wonderful blend with barbecued pork.  47% Sangiovese, 22% Zinfandel, 19% Blaufrankish, 12% Malbec.

    $22.00

The Graziano Zinfandel 2015, Mendocino, comes from 5 different old vine Zinfandel vineyards scattered throughout the benchlands and hillsides of Mendocino County. Old vine vineyards such as Tournour, Kazmet and Zeller grace this fine wine. Many of these vineyards are still farmed by 3rd and 4th generation Italian-Americans. This vintage displays a rich dark purple garnet color and deep aromas of black cherry, boysenberry, plum, spicy sandalwood with hints of toasty oak. Uplifting flavors of plum, black cherry cola and a subtle of earthiness combine to give this full-bodied Zinfandel a generous mouth-feel. Rich full tannins and balanced acidity lead into a long, lingering finish.Enjoy with garlic and rosemary seasoned lamb chops, Italian sausage or spicy tomato pasta dishes. A grilled burger with melted gorgonzola in one hand and this Zin in the other hand is what the good life is all about.
