Ehlers Cabernet Sauvignon 2017
The 2017 Ehlers Estate Cabernet Sauvignon is one of my favorite Cabernets! Deep garnet-purple layers show in this outstanding blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. The wine is very intense in aromas, showing Asian spice mix, violets, dark berry jam, black olives, sweet cherries, sage, and a deep long minerality. 2017 shows a beautiful tannin structure with balanced acidity and an especially long finish, of minerals, cedar, dark chocolate, and wild berries jam. The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon is an outstanding representation of the year and our unique site. Ready to drink now, but it will age extremely well for 10-15 more years.

Madrigal Cabernet Sauvignon 2017, Napa Valley, CA$45.00
Since the late 1930's, three generations of the Madrigal family have farmed some of Napa Valley’s finest vineyards. Chris Madrigal’s father, Jess, a retired member of the US military, started the family’s vineyard management company that today manages over 800 acres. In 1985 – the same year that Chris began to work with his father’s vineyard management company – they began overseeing the vineyards of Clos Pegase and Duckhorn wineries and growing grapes for other premium wineries including Cakebread Cellars and Chateau Montelena. As their reputation soared and while still working the vineyards as often as seven days a week, Chris realized his dream of establishing the family’s own winery. From the outstanding 2017 vintage, this is a big, rich Napa Valley Cabernet with dark fruit and spice aromas and a hearty core of currant and black cherry flavors. The Madrigal Cabernet Sauvignon 2015, Napa Valley has all of the Bordeaux varietals in it (75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Petit Verdot, 8% Cabernet Franc, 3% Malbec, 2% Merlot and comes from Madrigal's Vineyard and Levine Vineyard on Atlas Peak. The wine has excellent balance, soft tannins and a long, delicious finish. 1461 cases produced.
Oakville Winery Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2016, Napa Valley USA$59.00
In 1903 the Pelissa family purchased 35 acres between the Napa River and the Napa Valley Railroad in Calistoga with a single $10 gold coin. Thus began one family's history in the Napa Valley. Today the same family owns approximately 1,000 acres in Napa Valley with over 300 acres designated as a preserve intact with its natural state and 635 acres farmed as certified organic vineyards. Throughout the 20th century, the family grew and their experience expanded across the valley. Then in 1993 the heirs of the Pelissa family acquired the Oakville Winery property from Heublein – Inglenook. The winery was originally built in 1877 by two Frenchmen, Jean Adolphe Brun and Jean Chaix and it was the 9th bonded winery in California. The “Brun and Chaix Oakville Winery” passed through various hands in the 20th century and when the Pelissa family acquired it they formed the Napa Wine Company and Bonded Winery #9. The winery and adjacent Pelissa Vineyard, totals 62 acres on the corner of Highway 29 and the Oakville Cross Road. In 2009 the first vintages of Oakville Winery Estate Cabernet Sauvignon and Zinfandel were released. This delicious Cabernet Sauvignon is a style that reflects modern Oakville, while at the same time captures the classic flavors of the region. Rich with notes of cassis, cherry, and ripe plum. A beautiful, well rounded mouth feel. Medium bodied with an elegant finish.Layers of dark red fruit flow effortlessly from this radiant, expressive Cabernet Sauvignon. 92 Pionts – Robert Parker.
