Fiddlehead Pinot Noir “Seven Twenty-Eight” 2013, Fiddlestix Vineyard Sta. Rita Hills Santa Barbara USA

Home > Red - All wines > Red - Pinot Noir > Fiddlehead Pinot Noir “Seven Twenty-Eight” 2013, Fiddlestix Vineyard Sta. Rita Hills Santa Barbara USA

Named after the mile marker of the Estate Fiddlestix Vineyard, 7.28, on Santa Rosa Road, which is smack dab in the middle of the glorious Santa Rita Hills AVA and sandwiched by the Santa Rosa Hills to the south and the Santa Rita Hills to the north. This wine reflects the cool climate influence on Fiddlestix fruit and is a blend of all six clones planted in this Vineyard. The terroir always gives forth to great color, fabulous spicy aromatics, broad textures, a juicy mid-palate and sassy acidity, and produces a wine saturated with the essence of smoky, black cherry cola. It's incredibly true to Pinot noir, true to its roots and always aged in the bottle prior to release for your ultimate enjoyment. Fiddlestix Vineyard delivers every time!

French Soul, Oregon Soil. That's how Domaine Drouhin characterizes itselt. Their estate winery in the Dundee Hills of Oregon, creates elegant, fine Pinot Noir and Chardonnay wines forged from the family's tradition of fine winemaking in France. Named after Véronique Drouhin's elder daughter, Laurène is their flagship wine, and is produced entirely from Pinot Noir grown on the family's estate in the Dundee Hills. In recent years, Laurène has been named one of the “Great Wines of America” by Paul Lukacs in his book of the same name and “perennially one of Oregon's best wines” by Portland Monthly Magazine. The 2018 Laurène is an essay in balance. Its color is both brilliant red and deep ruby. The nose is baked fig, rhubarb and pomegranate. On the palate, the texture is both light & viscous, with mouth coating tannins, and flavors of spice & ripe raspberries with a touch of tartness. The exceptionally long finish leaves you with sweet, lush fruit & wonderfully bright layers. While intensely woven now, a couple years of cellaring, or decanting, will reveal silk, elegance and an expressive depth of texture. Enjoy now, and over the next 8-10 years.

  • Nielson Pinot Noir 2015, Santa Maria Valley

    $31.00

The Santa Maria Valley-of Santa Barbara County- is one of California’s coolest AVAs, with one of the longest growing seasons in the world. The region is defined by its well-drained, lean soils and the unique east/west transverse mountain ranges that act as a funnel for morning fog and cold afternoon winds off the Pacific Ocean, resulting in balanced, vibrant wines, full of earth, spice, red fruit and floral aromatics. Each vineyard, block, and clone were separated in the winemaking process to best maximize each lot’s distinctive character. The goal is to best express the complexity of Santa Maria Valley Pinot Noir which delivers notes of dark cherry, cinnamon and camp fire. The 2014 Nielson Pinot Noir, Santa Maria Valley has notes of red fruit and violets accompanied by a distinctive earthiness, indicative of its Santa Maria Valley sourcing.

  • Portalupi Pinot Noir 2019, Dolinsek Ranch, Russian River Valley

    $59.00

In 1996, Jim Dolinsek purchased the 10.5 acres property located on Laguna road that was then planted with apples and grapes. Jim’s father coincidently used to pick cherries on the ranch in the 30’s. The ranch was originally planted by the Frati family which included Old Vine Zinfandel. The vineyard has a rich Italian history of making field-blends including Alicante bouschet, teraldago, tempranillo, golden chasselas, black muscat and mouverde. The soil is the rich Russian River Valley Gold Ridge soil that provides complexity and muscle to the wines.

Tim Borges of Portalupie Winery has known Jim and his brother for over 30 years and had the good fortune to start working with Dolinsek Ranch with the first vintage of Zinfandel in 2009. In 2013, Portalupi started purchasing the entire crop of Pinot Noir. Portalupi has been producing award winning Old Vine Zinfandel and Pinot Noir since.

Baked bread and compost aromas compete with oak toastiness and ripe dark cherry in this wine, which veers into a beautiful velvety mouthfeel.
