Flora Springs Trilogy 2017, Napa Valley

Home > Region > Region - California > Flora Springs Trilogy 2017, Napa Valley

Trilogy 2017 is Flora Springs’ flagship wine, one that dates back to 1984 when the family decided to make the finest wine possible by selecting the highest quality wine lots culled from their estate vineyards in Napa Valley. Back then, it was one of Napa Valley’s first proprietary red blends, and today this Bordeaux-style wine continues to be sourced from the best blocks in our estate vineyards. In 2017 this iconic wine brings together Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec and Petit Verdot, all from the Komes Ranch. The Cabernet Sauvignon dominates at 83% of the blend, yielding a deeply concentrated wine with luscious notes of blackberry, black cherry, and ripe plum layered with notes of espresso, sassafras, dark chocolate and toasty oak. The palate is broad and the mouth feel is generous, yet the wine has a lovely streak of acidity that keeps it fresh and lively. Elegant tannins and spicy oak notes bring this Cabernet to a gracious, long lasting finish. This is a classy Cab, a great match for a juicy Rib Eye steak, lamb chops sizzled with garlic, miso-roasted eggplant or pepper-crusted Ahi tuna.

The color is intense and beautiful, almost black with purple, reddish hues. Aromas of black cherry, cassis, piecrust, spice, and mint mingle and leap from the glass. The palate is full and concentrated with similar aromas but also featuring black currant and sweet red cherry with the mild presence of oak, seamlessly integrated. Signature finely structured tannins and balanced acidity give way to a long finish which continues to build after that last sip.

  • J Lohr Carol’s Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2017

    $60.00

This year marks the fourteenth anniversary of J. Lohr’s heartfelt partnership with National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc. The Touching Lives initiative began when the Lohr family designated the J. Lohr Carol’s Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon a commemorative release in honor of founder Jerry Lohr’s late wife. Carol Lohr passed away in 2008 due to complications from breast cancer.

Today, $3 from every purchase of J Lohr Carol’s Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, whether at your local restaurant, wine shop, or online is donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. Since the program’s inception, sales from J. Lohr Carol’s Vineyard releases have supported early breast cancer detection, access to mammograms, patient navigation systems, and the delivery of HOPE Kits (a gift box of comforting items) to women undergoing breast cancer treatment. These programs continue to build on a partnership that has funded over 6,500 mammograms for women who otherwise would not be able to afford them.

The 2017 vintage of J. Lohr Carol’s Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon expresses this classic valley floor site in an approachable way. Savory fruit elements wrapped in a barrel signature of hazelnut and cocoa powder. Firm and angular in structure with red and blue fruits on the finish.

  • Tooth and Nail the Possessor 2019

    $35.00

Bordered by the Estrella river in Paso Robles, Tolliver Ranch features well-drained, sandy-gravely soils that are acidic due to the presence of decomposed granite , unlike most soil profiles in the Paso Robles region. Conditions at the site are ideal for big red varietals such as Petite Sirah, Syrah and Cabernet which thrive in the vineyard’s soils, and utilize the long growing season. A beautiful full-bodied Cabernet Blend! Red currants, cassis and red fruit dominate the nose while nuances of Christmas spice, pine and dried fall leaves add to the intriguing aromatics. The layered palate offers great weight and density with ripe flavors of black berries and plums. The surprisingly bright acidity and mouthwatering texture weaves into a firm finish with lingering tannins. The Tooth & Nail labels are John James Audubon originals; beasts of the early 1830s fighting “Tooth & Nail” to survive. Here Audubon depicts two Red Tailed Hawks fighting to become the sole POSSESSOR. 91 Points Wine Enthusiast.
