Booker Harvey and Harriet Red 2019

Home > Region > Region - California > Booker Harvey and Harriet Red 2019

Eric Jensen of Booker Vineyard and My Favorite Neighbor created this wine in honor of his parents. In a world of overpriced Cabernet blends, Eric’s hardworking, honest, salt-of-the-earth parents would have never been able to drink a decent wine. We believe that every wine-lover needs a case of this in their fridge! This wine is meant to be your every-day drinker. It is perfect to open on a Tuesday night with take-out food, bring over to your neighbor’s house to share at a summer potluck, or open a bottle (guilt-free) to enjoy just one glass while cooking dinner for your family.

At first blush, an exuberant bouquet of candied blueberries, blackberries, jasmine, and orange blossoms jumps out of the glass and demands full attention. Underneath the fruits and flowers lie warm scents of brioche, cocoa and baking spices. The taster is then rewarded with intense cherry, mixed berry and pluot followed by caramel and espresso. The overall sensation is sublime bliss on the palate as the elegant finish slowly fades away. 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Syrah,
10% Petite Sirah, 10% Cabernet Franc, 10% Petit Verdot, 10% Malbec

Here’s your opportunity to help even more. 25% of each sale of the Compassion without Borders Wine goes directly to the Compassion without Borders non-profit group. Compassion without Borders focus their passionate efforts in Mexico and the Central Valley of California where the need is the greatest and where animals are the very least likely to be helped due to financial, geographic, and cultural barriers.  Their stunning label is paired with our outstanding 2015 Sonoma County red wine, selected from Brenda Lynch’s best barrels of Cabernet Sauvignon. Tight aromas of new French oak and hints of red and black fruits signal the wine’s youth. Bright fruit flavors combine with caramel and toasty oak in a structured mid palette that explodes into a chewy, dense finish with sweet, ripe tannins. Drinks great now!

  • J Lohr Carol’s Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2018

    $58.00

This year marks the fifteenth anniversary of J. Lohr’s heartfelt partnership with National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc. The Touching Lives initiative began when the Lohr family designated the J. Lohr Carol’s Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon a commemorative release in honor of founder Jerry Lohr’s late wife. Carol Lohr passed away in 2008 due to complications from breast cancer.

Today, $3 from every purchase of J Lohr Carol’s Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, whether at your local restaurant, wine shop, or online is donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. Since the program’s inception, sales from J. Lohr Carol’s Vineyard releases have supported early breast cancer detection, access to mammograms, patient navigation systems, and the delivery of HOPE Kits (a gift box of comforting items) to women undergoing breast cancer treatment. These programs continue to build on a partnership that has funded over 6,500 mammograms for women who otherwise would not be able to afford them.

The 2018 Carol’s Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon’s pleasing aromas of black cherry, cassis, blackberry, and plum are elevated by powdered dark chocolate, cedar, and lingering sweet spice from French oak barrels. The palate is concentrated and pure with focused, refined tannins.

  • Shooting Star Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

In Lake County, the red volcanic soils, ample sunshine, almost no fog, the 1400 foot plus elevation, and the cool night temperatures, all add up to a wonderful place to grow red grapes. Steele harvests Cabernet Sauvignon for Shooting Star from two growers: Dorn Family Vineyards, and Shannon Ridge Vineyards. The Dorn vineyard is perched on a hollow on the NW corner of the dormant volcano Mt Konocti. Shannon Ridge Vineyard sits over 1600 feet above elevation on the northeast area of Lake County. Warm days and cool nights are ideal conditions for this site.

The Shooting Star Cabernet Sauvignon 2016 is aged for 15 months in oak barrels (20% new) in order to preserve the bright fruit flavors of this wine. The Shooting Star Cabernet Sauvignon has aromas of dark red fruit with just a hint of fresh herbs. The flavors are of black cherry, boysenberry and tobacco with soft, yet lingering tannins.

This Cabernet Sauvignon pairs well with Leg of lamb roasted with fresh rosemary, and garlic, grilled flank steaks or try with an aged Gouda cheese.
