J Lohr Carol’s Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2018

Home > Region > Region - California > J Lohr Carol’s Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2018

This year marks the fourteenth anniversary of J. Lohr’s heartfelt partnership with National Breast Cancer
Foundation, Inc. The Touching Lives initiative began when the Lohr family designated the J. Lohr Carol’s Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon a commemorative release in honor of founder Jerry Lohr’s late wife. Carol Lohr passed away in 2008 due to complications from breast cancer.

Today, $3 from every purchase of J Lohr Carol’s Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, whether at your local restaurant, wine shop, or online is donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. Since the program’s inception, sales from J. Lohr Carol’s Vineyard releases have supported early breast cancer detection, access to mammograms, patient navigation systems, and the delivery of HOPE Kits (a gift box of comforting items) to women undergoing breast cancer treatment. These programs continue to build on a partnership that has funded over 6,500 mammograms for women who otherwise would not be able to afford them.

The 2018 vintage of J. Lohr Carol’s Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon expresses this classic valley floor site in an approachable way. Savory fruit elements wrapped in a barrel signature of hazelnut and cocoa powder. Firm and angular in structure with red and blue fruits on the finish.

Here’s your opportunity to help even more. 25% of each sale of the Compassion without Borders Wine goes directly to the Compassion without Borders non-profit group. Compassion without Borders focus their passionate efforts in Mexico and the Central Valley of California where the need is the greatest and where animals are the very least likely to be helped due to financial, geographic, and cultural barriers.  Their stunning label is paired with our outstanding 2015 Sonoma County red wine, selected from Brenda Lynch’s best barrels of Cabernet Sauvignon. Tight aromas of new French oak and hints of red and black fruits signal the wine’s youth. Bright fruit flavors combine with caramel and toasty oak in a structured mid palette that explodes into a chewy, dense finish with sweet, ripe tannins. Drinks great now!

  • Sineann Cabernet Sauvignon Baby Poux 2014

    $68.00

Sineann Cabernet Sauvignon Baby Poux 2014 isn't really a baby anymore. Named back in 1998, it was made from a newer section of the famed Champoux Vineyard. Nearly two decades later, the baby's all grown up. The vines aren't babies anymore, but the name remains. Intense aromas of creamy black cherry, bittersweet chocolate, and a hint of dried herbs. Super dense in the mouth, with flavors echoing the aroma. Cassis and mineral notes emerge with time. Delicious Champoux fruit! The Baby Poux block of Paul Champoux's vineyard combines great Cab intensity with a remarkable approachability that Cabernet just doesn't often deliver. Sineann has used fruit from Baby Poux since it's first year of production and it has always had that approachable quality. Much to our delight, as the vineyard ages (it is now 18 years old) it is growing in depth and complexity. Where will it all lead to? We don't know, but it's fun going along for the ride and it's fun saying Baby Poux!! (This picture is of the 2009 vintage – 2014 pics are hard to find!)

The fruit for the 2017 Ghost Block Cabernet Sauvignon primarily (82%) comes from the family-owned Rock Cairn vineyard. The 30- year-old vineyard in Oakville, Napa Valley is 100% Certified Organic. Intense, overt aromas of dark plum and black cherry burst from the glass. This wine has a beautiful balance between tannin and fruit. The palate has enticing flavors of darker red fruits—black cherry, cassis, and cranberry. The structure & body is lengthened in your mouth by the well-integrated oak notes that frame this wine. The soft and silky tannins allow for a long-lasting finish, making this wine friendly and attractive to every type of winedrinker!
