Jayson by Pahlmeyer Cabernet Sauvignon 2017

Home > Region > Region - California > Jayson by Pahlmeyer Cabernet Sauvignon 2017

Jayson Cabernet Sauvignon 2017 has deep purple color in the glass, and displays classic varietal expression through an aromatic profile of intense floral notes, ripe blackberry, white pepper, and hints of leather and vanilla. On the dense, creamy palate, sweet plum, raspberry and ripe blueberry characters are accented by hints of cinnamon stick and brown sugar. A touch of earth contributes complexity over the long, luxurious finish.

99 points, RP “…Flirting with perfection, this wine boasts blueberry and blackberry notes, spring flowers a hint of charcoal and subtle toast, a full-bodied mouthfeel and stunning concentration.”Intense blackberry liqueur and espresso bean develop into rose and truffle oil aromas as the wine opens. Creamy and opulent, flavors of semi-sweet chocolate, mocha, and plum layer the front and mid-palate. A beam of fresh minerality (archetypal Stags Leap District character) frames the long silky finish. Decanting is recommended. Revisit over 24 hours as new layers develop with time.

    Oakville Cross Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

    $70.00 $67.00

Jack and Ruthie Rydman moved to Oakville in 1973, and in 1999 they planted two acres of their property on Oakville Cross Road with 2100 Cabernet Sauvignon vines. The vineyard backs up to Silver Oak, so you know they’re in prime Cabernet territory!

The Oakville AVA produces many of the most prized Cabernets in the Napa Valley. As expected, their vines produced exceptional fruit which they sold to nearby wineries. In 2005, because the fruit was of such high quality, they decided to go into the wine business themselves. Their premiere release has been met with rave reviews making their decision to make the leap from grower to vintner all the more sweet.

The  signature Oakville Cross 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon has spent two years aging in French, Hungarian and American oak barrels. Harvested in mid-October, this Cabernet Sauvignon is ripe with vibrant plum and cherry with a hint of vanilla and anise. Long soft finish — ready to drink now, will age gracefully 10+ years. They use the glass closure, the Vino-Seal. Sexy, cool and efficient. Does not impart any flavors to the wine. Doesn’t dry out or change shape, ever. Perfect for a great great Napa Cab!

    $21.00

Sean Minor was born in Kansas but he began his career in the wine industry after a formal education in finance from Arizona State University where he also met his wife, Nicole. They moved to California after graduation, where he began working for Napa Valley’s Beaulieu Vineyard. At the same time he took classes at U.C. Davis in Viticultural and Enology in hopes of developing a further understanding of grape growing and wine production. Then Sean moved to the Pacific Northwest after being recruited by King Estate Winery (widely renown for producing Oregon’s largest and most highly regarded Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris) to manage the Estate. He met Will Bucklin, King Estate’s then winemaker, and developed an even stronger knowledge of winemaking and gained a lifelong friend. Sean learned firsthand the importance of site-specific viticulture, and ended up leaving King Estate to lead Benton Lane Winery then the family returned to California in 2001 where Sean had the opportunity to manage Renwood Winery and enhance his wine experience growing and marketing some of the Golden State’s best Zinfandel and Syrah. Four years later, he founded Sean Minor Wines.

This lovely Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon is ruby in color and displays aromas of lavender, cedar and raspberry fruit. Flavors of blackberries and raspberries combined with hints of savory spices coat the palate. The soft tannins and sweet oak balance lead to a long and lingering finish.
