JNSQ Rose 2018

Home > Region > Region - California > JNSQ Rose 2018

The finest Roses delight, refresh and entertain, offering nothing less than complete joy in a glass whether you are drinking it on its own, or with food.  The JNSQ Rose Cru gives all this an more. It’s a fine wine sourced from carefully selected blocks in some of the finest regions along California’s cool Central Coast. The fruit from each vineyard block is made separately to bring out the absolute best qualities that each site has to offer. Grenache, Pinot Gris, Syrah and Viognier from these blocks are then combined to display a delicate complexity and balance to give something special, je ne sais quoi that is difficult to describe, but immediately recognizable on the first sip.

JNSQ Rosé Cru 2018 is summer in a glass, no matter what the calendar says. Not too sweet, but never bitter, this grenache-forward Rosé is clean and aromatic with a touch of strawberry and hints of Bing cherry. The dynamic flavors are accented with savory herbal and white floral notes that make it crisp and elegant, perfect for sipping by the pool, serving at a barbecue, or toasting over a candlelit dinner.

This wine is balanced, refreshing, and versatile. The graceful texture and clean finish make our Rosé Cru delightful all on its own, but it plays well with a range of foods. The fruit flavors complement light bites, like arugula and goat cheese salad, or fresh bruschetta, while the balanced texture holds its own with savory dishes like roasted branzino or even a prosciutto pizza.

Hellhound…a supernatural dog, mythical in nature, jet black and red with piercing yellow eyes, the guardian of the gates of hell. Legend has it that seeing a hellhound or hearing its howl is ominous. Stare into its eyes three times and death awaits. Just think of what will happen when you drink a glass of Mutt Lynch HellHound. Dark and violent, it is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon aged in Bourbon barrels. Certainly not for the faint of heart. This noble beast opens to aromas of toasty oak and blackberries. On the palate you’ll find notes of blackberries, cherries, tobacco and leather. The 2017 HellHound is full-bodied, with silky tannins and a nice finish. Available now for a great taste but will also age well. We’re at the mercy of this beauty of a beast. It’s big, bold and very tempting. Who’s afraid of the big bad wolf? The obvious pairing is something from the grill–steak or even a great burger. But…a great pasta with sausage also comes to mind.

  • Elyse Zinfandel 2017, Korte Ranch, Napa Valley, California, USA

    $41.00

Korte Ranch is located just north of the town of St. Helena along the Napa River on Ehlers Lane. It is truly one of the most distinctive and classic Zinfandel vineyards left in Napa Valley with the vines that Elyse Winery sources from being a minimum of 70 years old. It has been family owned for four generations and was a bonded winery before prohibition. The gnarly old head trained, dry farmed vines are planted where the eastern and western hillsides meet. This beautiful property is perfectly suited for high quality grape growing from the cool morning and nighttime temperatures to the loose soils of rocky loam which help make wine of unique and bold character. The Elyse Zinfandel 2017, Korte Ranch is beautifully deep garnet colored with intriguing aromas of black plum, blackberry pie, caramel, cinnamon, galangal root, incense, clove and orange zest. Lavishly textured with generous flavors of sweet blackberry, blueberry, cassis and the slightest hint of cracked black pepper and spice. Smooth entry with a broad mouthfeel, rich fruit and well integrated tannins lead to a finish that is long and lingering. 92 Points Wine Enthusiast. 1165 cases made.
