La Crema Chardonnay 2017, Kelli Ann Vineyard
One of La Crema’s most treasured estate vineyards, Kelli Ann, sits a stone’s throw away from the meandering and picturesque Russian River. Enjoying abundant sunshine, foggy mornings, and cool nights this vineyard yields wine with both dimension and concentration. On the nose hints of lemon curd, fresh nectarine, and nutmeg followed by flavors of Meyer Lemon, white peach, and hints of crème brûlée on the palate. Overall the 2017 vintage has great concentration and an elegant finish.

Trefethen Chardonnay 2018$42.00
Ample rainfall in the spring recharged the soil profile and provided a strong start to the growing season. The weather during the summer featured consistent warmth and sunshine without any major heat spells. Cooler than average temperatures in August and September slowed the ripening process for the Trefethen Chardonnay 2018, providing long hang time and leading to complex flavor development.
Aromas of lemon and lime are complemented by a touch of apple blossom and white peach. Subtle notes of toasted oak frame the palate which features more citrus flavors and hints of apple and pear. The lively acidity brings great balance and the finish is refreshing and smooth.
The bright citrus notes of the Trefethen Chardonnay 2018 make it a perfect match for shellfish and tarragon. Try a simple dish of salt and pepper shrimp or caramelized jumbo scallops over rice. Also try adding tarragon to fresh goat cheese and enjoy with your favorite torn bread and good friends!
Steven Kent Merrillie Chardonnay 2016, Mission Ranch, Arroyo Seco$34.00
The Mirassou family – the oldest winemaking family in the United States – have been pioneers in a number of important ways. One of the most relevant in terms of this new Chardonnay release is that they were the first family to plant vineyards in modern-day Monterey County in 1961. Aged on the lees for about 10 months and barrel-fermented in about 50% new French oak, three sub-lots of Chardonnay were blended and bottled without filtration or fining. Each sub-lot (of roughly equal size) was fermented with a different yeast regimen. For one portion we did “native” fermentation (letting the ambient yeast environment ferment the must) while the other lots were fermented with one of our favored cultured
yeasts: CY-3079 and QA23. Each lot was wonderfully individualistic, differing in flavor, aroma, and texture. Together, they created a wine of finesse and elegance; mouth-filling richness underscored by precise, length-producing acidity.
Rose Rock Chardonnay 2016, Willamette Valley$34.00
The Rose Rock Chardnnay 2016 is made by the famed Domaine Drouhin people! Super fresh aromas of lemon and lime zest, leading to fresh white peaches. This has a very impressive sense of purity and clarity that follows to the fresh, linear palate. Impressively rened chardonnay.” This Roserock Chardonnay is vibrant and round, with broad floral notes and energetic touches of noisette, peach and pear. The palate’s enveloping texture is balanced by clear structure and a sense of minerality. It is an elegant and complex wine, with a long finish, and I expect this vintage to evolve nicely over the next few years.– 94pts James Suckling; 92pts Wine Enthusiast Editor’s Choice; 91pts Wine Spectator, Top 100 Wines of 2018.
