Lechtaler Pinot Grigio 2016, Trentino, Italy

Home > Country > Country - Italy > Lechtaler Pinot Grigio 2016, Trentino, Italy

The “Pinot” vines are originally from the Borgogna and they arrived in Trentino from Germany around the beginning of the last century. Here they found their ideal habitat in the cold-temperate climate. The fruit actually ranges from an eponymous grey (thus the name “grigio” in Italian) to a delicate, pinky mauve, with berries of varied shades often found within a single bunch.

The color is straw yellow. The bouquet on the nose is very elegant with the typical varietal scent of Williams pear. Dry, harmonious and fine taste with a good balance and a lingering fruity finish. An excellent aperitif; pairs well with typical Mediterranean dishes and grilled fish such as trout.

The San Biagio estate is located in Barolo within the famous Commune of La Morra. It was originally a Benedictine monastery (San Biagio Priory) and is listed in the village archives as far back as 1050 AD. The current winery was built alongside the original farmhouse in the year 2000 and features a modern vinification area, and a below ground cellar which provides the perfect surroundings for wines to mature. This delightful Barolo features complex aromas of berries, roses, jam and cooked plums. Dried figs, fresh picked mushrooms with hints of tobacco and leather, white pepper with a pleasant earthiness on the palate. Appealing spicy and balsamic overtones stand out in the more mature wine, especially star anise, liquorice, mushrooms and dried figs, as well as hints of tobacco and leather. Excellent with grilled steaks, wild game and rustic dishes.  92 Points – James Suckling.

    $96.00

Tenute Silvio Nardi Brunello di Montalcino 2015 is a blend of the finest grapes from the Manachiara and Casale del Bosco estates. Silvio Nardi follows the strict DOCG laws required of a classified Brunello di Montalcino. Yield is limited; only the top 70% of the grapes is used to make the wine. Bottle aged at least 12 months before release. This deep, ruby-red wine has intense, complex aromas of red fruits and spices, with toasty oak notes. The wine shows a silky texture, great finesse and profound flavors, framed by noble, velvety tannins. Though impressive now, this wine will benefit from aging. If the perfect dinner for you is a big juicy steak, then this is the wine for you. Also great with rich fish like stugeon or grouper. 95 Points James Suckling, 92 Points Parker and Wine Spectator, 91 Points Galloni.

  • Tormaresca Calafuria Rose 2020, Puglia, Italy

    $22.00

The Tormaresca estate is comprised of two properties in Italy’s southern region of Puglia.
Bocca di Lupo is 820 feet above sea level and is located in Murgia. Masseria Maìme is located in the Salento region. The Negroamaro for Calafuria is produced from grapes harvested at the Maime Estate in the Salento region.

Tormaresca was founded in 1998 with the investment and vision of the Antinori family in Italy’s Puglia region in Southern Italy. The name Calafuria was inspired by the many bays and inlets on the coast of Puglia. It translates to “bay fury.”

“It washes across the senses with tremendous energy, motivated by vibrant acidity, as a mix of ripe red fruits are further accentuated with hints of lime and saline-minerality. The finish is long, resonating on a buzz of spicy acids with a lime-inspired citrus thrust.”, Vinous Media 90 Points
