Migration Chardonnay 2018, Sonoma Coast

Home > Region > Region - California > Migration Chardonnay 2018, Sonoma Coast

Migration is dedicated to crafting wines from the finest cool-climate winegrowing regions highlighting lush fruit, bright acidity and impeccably balanced oak. This dedication has taken us to the storied vineyards of California’s Sonoma Coast, where layers of ocean fog cool the vines that grow in the famous Goldridge sandy loam soils. Reflecting this world-class terroir, the vibrant and sophisticated Migration Chardonnay 2018 combines white flower aromatics with enticing lemon custard and stone fruit flavors. Lush, alluring and beautifully balanced, this wine displays lovely stone fruit aromas, along with hints of apple and citrus. On the palate, subtle notes of French-oak-inspired vanilla and baking spice complement the generous fruit, with a beam of cool-climate acidity providing poise and finesse.

Sea Sun Chardonnay 2018 is a new California Chardonnay from Caymus whose character speaks to the unique terrain where it is sourced in Santa Barbara, Monterey and Solano Counties. These premier growing regions span several hundred miles and feature subtle differences. The result is a wine featuring the best characteristics of Chardonnay, with fruit flavors, oak and acidity in harmony and balance. It is juicy with scents of lightly grilled mango and interesting layers of smoke, oak, and acid finished bringing it all together with light lemon curd. Sea Sun, a more affordable Mer Soleil, is perfect for your spring and summer lighter dishes – salads, grilled fish and chicken.

  • Steele Cuvee Chardonnay 2017

    $25.00

Steele’s flagship white wine, California Cuvee Chardonnay, really shows off Jed Steele’s wizardry in blending. As with all great wines, the process begins with the selection of the right vineyards. They have worked with most of the great Chardonnay vineyards in California and have chosen six prestigious properties to obtain the grapes for this wine.
With the exception of the Lolonis vineyard fruit (which was stainless steel fermented and then barrel aged for 4 months). The Steele Chardonnay Cuvee 2016 is fermented in barrel (20% new) and aged sur-lees for about eight months. Stirring the barrels regularly aids in the completion of malolactic fermentation, yielding complexity, depth of flavor and aroma. The Santa Maria vineyards add a tropical fruit character to the wine, flavors and aroma of mango, pineapple, and papaya. The Sonoma vineyards attribute citrus character and acid to the cuvée. The Mendocino vineyard, Lolonis, has a flavor profile that leans toward apples aromas of apple crisp and cinnamon. Halibut with a white wine burre blanc sauce would complement the complex flavors of the Cuvée Chardonnay nicely.
