Miura Pinot Noir 2017, Santa Lucia Highlands, CA

Home > Region > Region - California > Miura Pinot Noir 2017, Santa Lucia Highlands, CA

Born in the United States, but raised in Spain and England, Emmanuel Kemiji is a graduate of the University of California at Davis. After a remarkable career as a Master Sommelier, Emmanuel Kemiji took his passion for wine to the vineyards in 1995.The name Miura is derived from Don Eduardo Miura, the most famous breeder of Spanish fighting bulls and a name synonymous with nobility, boldness, and power. The Miura Pinot Noir 2017 bottle is unique, sporting an etched image of a red-eyed bull rather than a paper label.  From the Mission Ranch we get an extremely luscious and full-bodied fruit that oozes with strawberry and raspberry fruit. From the cooler Silacci Vineyard we get a more perfumed and brighter fruit with pleasant earth tones underneath.

Delectable aromas of raspberry, cherry, rose petal, and a hint of strawberry as well as attractive bouquets of cedar, caramel, and anise.  Dazzling red berry flavor expands on the palate. Supple acidity and refined tannins lift the mid-palate and provide the exquisite mouthfeel with finesse and depth. A nuance of elegant oak notes adds a touch of spiciness and tension to the delightful finish. Sensual and transparent. The Sangiacomo Pinot pairs well with Sukiyaki, Roasted duck & pork and Pasta with fresh tomato sauce.

The winery began in 2012 with Marc-André Roy and Jared Etzel who continue in their fathers’ footsteps who partnered to establish Beaux Freres Winery in 1991. The winery focuses on wine from two estate vineyards in the Dundee Hills and Carlton under the Domaine Roy et Fils label, and wines from non-estate fruit is labeled Maison Roy et Fils. The 2017 Maison Roy & fils Petite Incline is comprised of a blend of vineyards from the Dundee Hills & Yamhill Carlton. The Domaine Roy Petite Incline 2017, Willamette Valley is a selection of barrels that show the earliest accessibility and allow for prime drinking on release. The color is lighter, the tannins are soft and the wine is quite floral. The aromatics present red berries, mint and dried herbs while the palate shows ripe red fruit and a round lighthearted profile that will provide optimal drinking for the next 5-6 years. 90 Points Wine Enthusiast. Enjoy with Roasted Salmon  – another great coming from the northwest!
