Miura Pinot Noir 2017, Santa Lucia Highlands, CA

Home > Region > Region - California > Miura Pinot Noir 2017, Santa Lucia Highlands, CA

Born in the United States, but raised in Spain and England, Emmanuel Kemiji is a graduate of the University of California at Davis. After a remarkable career as a Master Sommelier, Emmanuel Kemiji took his passion for wine to the vineyards in 1995.The name Miura is derived from Don Eduardo Miura, the most famous breeder of Spanish fighting bulls and a name synonymous with nobility, boldness, and power. The Miura Pinot Noir 2017 bottle is unique, sporting an etched image of a red-eyed bull rather than a paper label.  From the Mission Ranch we get an extremely luscious and full-bodied fruit that oozes with strawberry and raspberry fruit. From the cooler Silacci Vineyard we get a more perfumed and brighter fruit with pleasant earth tones underneath.

Pinot noir made to pair with delicate dishes made from fresh, seasonal ingredients

Delectable aromas of raspberry, cherry, rose petal, and a hint of strawberry as well as attractive bouquets of cedar, caramel, and anise.  Dazzling red berry flavor expands on the palate. Supple acidity and refined tannins lift the mid-palate and provide the exquisite mouthfeel with finesse and depth. A nuance of elegant oak notes adds a touch of spiciness and tension to the delightful finish. Sensual and transparent. The Sangiacomo Pinot pairs well with Sukiyaki, Roasted duck & pork and Pasta with fresh tomato sauce.

  • Champ de Reves Pinot Noir 2014, Anderson Valley

    $42.00

As a winegrowing region, there is no other Pinot Noir AVA in America that has more potential than Anderson Valley in Mendocino. The features of the valley are a Mecca for the cultivation of Pinot: here one finds daily, cooling maritime influence, dramatic geological contours with high mountains on either side of the valley, rocky soils and a mix of classic California flora and trees. The Champ de Reves spectacular vineyard is perched high above Boonville in the hills of Anderson Valley, just 18 miles from the Pacific coastline. Boone Ridge is a veritable aerie, with sweeping views of the valley below. A wide array of aspects in the vineyard creates multiple mesoclimates, each displaying unique characteristics as these relatively young vines continue to age.
The Champ de Reves 2014 Pinot Noir shows vibrant blueberry-strawberry fruit intertwined with aromas of dark-red rose, maple, licorice, and toasted hazelnut. On the palate, juicy raspberry, dark cocoa, and pennyroyal flavors emerge. Delicately-balanced acidity and crystalline minerality lead into a firmly structured finish.

  • Stoller Pinot Noir 2018, Dundee Hills, OR

    $31.00

Bill Stoller was born on the property and raised on the family farm outside of Dayton, Oregon. Bill’s decision to transform the family farm into a vineyard stemmed from much more than wishful thinking. With the help of Burgundian winemaker Patrice Rion and local vineyard consultants, Bill confirmed that the very factors that made this land a poor choice for turkey farming were perfect for an award-winning vineyard. In 1995, Bill planted 10 acres each of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, combining the experience of consulting viticulturists with innovative vineyard techniques in order to maximize the grape’s quality. Crafted exclusively from estate fruit, the Stoller Dundee Hills Pinot Noir 2018 is made in an elegant, approachable style. It has aromas of brambleberry and cherry with floral notes of lilac and violets and understated hints of cola and cinnamon. The palate features a purity of red fruit flavors, bright acidity and medium tannins. This approachable wine pairs well with a variety of foods, including cedar plank grilled salmon with tarragon aioli, pulled pork with cherry chutney and pickled onions, creamed morel mushrooms with shallots and hard cheeses, especially Comté.
