Noria Pinot Noir 2018, Sangiacomo Vineyard, Sonoma Coast

Home > Region > Region - California > Noria Pinot Noir 2018, Sangiacomo Vineyard, Sonoma Coast

Pinot noir made to pair with delicate dishes made from fresh, seasonal ingredients

Delectable aromas of raspberry, cherry, rose petal, and a hint of strawberry as well as attractive bouquets of cedar, caramel, and anise.  Dazzling red berry flavor expands on the palate. Supple acidity and refined tannins lift the mid-palate and provide the exquisite mouthfeel with finesse and depth. A nuance of elegant oak notes adds a touch of spiciness and tension to the delightful finish. Sensual and transparent. The Sangiacomo Pinot pairs well with Sukiyaki, Roasted duck & pork and Pasta with fresh tomato sauce.

Vintage 2019 of the Russian River Papapietro Pinot produced some spectacular wines, especially those produced from Russian River Valley grapes. Our Russian River Valley blend starts with a burst of red fruit aromas. The palate offers concentrated layers of red fruit driven by ripe cherry and fresh raspberry, with supporting flavors of black tea, minerality and a kiss of barrel sweetness. Good depth, density and polish confirm the quality of this vintage and the vineyards.

In 1996, Jim Dolinsek purchased the 10.5 acres property located on Laguna road that was then planted with apples and grapes. Jim’s father coincidently used to pick cherries on the ranch in the 30’s. The ranch was originally planted by the Frati family which included Old Vine Zinfandel. The vineyard has a rich Italian history of making field-blends including Alicante bouschet, teraldago, tempranillo, golden chasselas, black muscat and mouverde. The soil is the rich Russian River Valley Gold Ridge soil that provides complexity and muscle to the wines.

Tim Borges of Portalupie Winery has known Jim and his brother for over 30 years and had the good fortune to start working with Dolinsek Ranch with the first vintage of Zinfandel in 2009. In 2013, Portalupi started purchasing the entire crop of Pinot Noir. Portalupi has been producing award winning Old Vine Zinfandel and Pinot Noir since.

Baked bread and compost aromas compete with oak toastiness and ripe dark cherry in this wine, which veers into a beautiful velvety mouthfeel.
