Orin Swift Machete Red 2018
A gothic mauve with a vivid neon rim, the wine appears almost black in the glass. Notes of wet stone, black plum and crushed gravel reverberate from within. Bold upfront, the palate is all-enveloping with mixed berry crepe, black licorice and a touch of char. Layered and omnipotent in weight, the wine finishes with ripe Petite Sirah tannins, providing a pleasant closing texture. Petite Sirah, Syrah, Grenache. 91+Points Wine Advocate.

Molly Dooker “The Boxer” Shiraz 2017$38.00
Complex and expressive, the 2017 Boxer exudes vivacity while maintaining great length. Bright maraschino cherry, fresh plum, rich dark chocolate and liquorice max out the flavour spectrum. The tannins are fine, the fruit is soft and the flavors tickle the taste buds. Consistently impressive and seriously good, this wine is not short of character. Bold, powerful, full body texture. Intense fruity flavors of ripe blackberry, plum, elderberry and dark bitter chocolate with intermittent tastes of clove. Fresh acidity, firm well integrated tannins and an explosive fruity finish. WOW, WOW a Shiraz that gives a whole new meaning to the term BIG and POWERFUL wine. The bold flavors are a perfect complement for the salt in stir fry soy sauce. Clearly not California sweet and clearly not from the Rhone Valley, but there was lots of BRIGHT sun on these Australian grapes and it’s POTENT fruit and IMPETUOUS taste really identifies its origin…there is nothing else quite like it!!! A vibrant Australian Shiraz that is a fantastic bargain!
Sexual Chocolate 2017$30.00
As you can see from the picture – the front label is a handwritten tome by winemaker, Brandon Allen. Here is what it says, “This bottle originated from a bootlegging operation my Buddies and I had in college. We started making wine knowing it would be used for late night drinking, and that the French are annoying. It took some time, but we finally perfected our Blend, and came up with this full bodied red that pairs well with Wednesday nights and pizza. We use grapes from all over California so we recomend [sic] this be drank [sic] immediately, and shared with girls.”
It’s not getting routine; it just keeps getting better. The 2017 Sexual Chocolate is pure hedonism in a bottle, but crafted with great care and consideration toward quality. Having made the blend for nearly ten years, winemaker Brandon Allen has developed just the right formula for a wine that delivers loads of flavor for a value. The 2017 vintage is mostly a Syrah blend that delivers an intense combo of ripe, dark fruit with a long, smooth finish. This is a wine that can hold its own but is also a most welcome addition to a variety of foods.
William Knuttel Petite Sirah 2016, D. Rafanelli Vineyard$40.00
We have long appreciated the wines that William Knuttel makes – always small production, high quality. Add in fruit from Rafanelli Vineyards and you have a winning combination. The 2016 Petite Sirah, D. Rafanelli Vineyard, Rex & Amarica Block has aromas of blackberry and ripe pomegranate, black plum and black cherry, with well-integrated oak and toast. The wine is opaque, nearly like India ink, with black and deep purple hues. The velvety tannins are meshed in intense blackberry, black cherry and licorice flavors, and the well-balanced finish lingers while concentrated fruit explodes on the palate.
