Orin Swift Papillon 2019

Home > Region > Region - California > Orin Swift Papillon 2019

The 2019 Papillon pours a neon crimson and settles into a dark core with a ruby rim—crimson through and through. Aromatically, the wine opens with powerful notes of blackberry, kirsch, coastal sagebrush and evolves into ripe pluot and roasted fig. An enveloping entry of grandeur, the palate reveals a more elegant side of the wine: black plum, blackcurrant, toffee and trace hints of sweet red vermouth, muddled mint, and orange peel. Polished, balanced and with an imagined sweetness, the wine closes with ripe but firm tannin and a mild drying character, capable of converting even the staunchest of Bordeaux-philes. Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Petit Verdot, Merlot

  • J Lohr Carol’s Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2018

    Add to cart
    $58.00

This year marks the fifteenth anniversary of J. Lohr’s heartfelt partnership with National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc. The Touching Lives initiative began when the Lohr family designated the J. Lohr Carol’s Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon a commemorative release in honor of founder Jerry Lohr’s late wife. Carol Lohr passed away in 2008 due to complications from breast cancer.

Today, $3 from every purchase of J Lohr Carol’s Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, whether at your local restaurant, wine shop, or online is donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. Since the program’s inception, sales from J. Lohr Carol’s Vineyard releases have supported early breast cancer detection, access to mammograms, patient navigation systems, and the delivery of HOPE Kits (a gift box of comforting items) to women undergoing breast cancer treatment. These programs continue to build on a partnership that has funded over 6,500 mammograms for women who otherwise would not be able to afford them.

The 2018 Carol’s Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon’s pleasing aromas of black cherry, cassis, blackberry, and plum are elevated by powdered dark chocolate, cedar, and lingering sweet spice from French oak barrels. The palate is concentrated and pure with focused, refined tannins.

  • Madrigal Cabernet Sauvignon 2019, Napa Valley, CA

    Add to cart
    $49.00

Since the late 1930’s, three generations of the Madrigal family have farmed some of Napa Valley’s finest vineyards. Chris Madrigal’s father, Jess, a retired member of the US military, started the family’s vineyard management company that today manages over 800 acres. In 1985 – the same year that Chris began to work with his father’s vineyard management company – they began overseeing the vineyards of Clos Pegase and Duckhorn wineries and growing grapes for other premium wineries including Cakebread Cellars and Chateau Montelena. As their reputation soared and while still working the vineyards as often as seven days a week, Chris realized his dream of establishing the family’s own winery. From the outstanding 2019 vintage, this is a big, rich Napa Valley Cabernet with dark fruit and spice aromas and a hearty core of currant and black cherry flavors. The Madrigal Cabernet Sauvignon 2019, Napa Valley has all of the Bordeaux varietals in it (75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Petit Verdot, 8% Cabernet Franc, 3% Malbec, 2% Merlot and comes from Madrigal’s Vineyard and Levine Vineyard on Atlas Peak. The wine has excellent balance, soft tannins and a long, delicious finish. 1461 cases produced.
