Peterson GCM 2015
Modeled after blends from the Southern regions of France but born of fruit hailing from the red, well drained soils of the Bradford Mountain Vineyard. We build from the core of plush, forward fruit Grenache (54%), added spice and depth with Carignane (26%), compexity and tannin from Mourvedre (13%) and for rich, layered structure, Petite Sirah (7%).

Mutt Lynch 2015 HellHound$25.00Add to cart
Hellhound…a supernatural dog, mythical in nature, jet black and red with piercing yellow eyes, the guardian of the gates of hell. Legend has it that seeing a hellhound or hearing its howl is ominous. Stare into its eyes three times and death awaits. Just think of what will happen when you drink a glass of Mutt Lynch HellHound. Dark and violent, a hellish blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Certainly not for the faint of heart. This noble beast opens to aromas of toasty oak and blackberries. On the palate you’ll find notes of blackberries, cherries, tobacco and leather. The 2015 HellHound is full-bodied, with silky tannins and a nice finish. Available now for a great taste but will also age well. We’re at the mercy of this beauty of a beast. It’s big, bold and very tempting. Who’s afraid of the big bad wolf? The obvious pairing is something from the grill–steak or even a great burger. But…a great pasta with sausage also comes to mind.
William Knuttel Petite Sirah 2013, D. Rafanelli Vineyard$40.00Add to cart
We have long appreciated the wines that William Knuttel makes – always small production, high quality. Add in fruit from Rafanelli Vineyards and you have a winning combination. The 2013 Petite Sirah, D. Rafanelli Vineyard, Rex & Amarica Block has aromas of blackberry and ripe pomegranate, black plum and black cherry, with well-integrated oak and toast. The wine is opaque, nearly like India ink, with black and deep purple hues. The velvety tannins are meshed in intense blackberry, black cherry and licorice flavors, and the well-balanced finish lingers while concentrated fruit explodes on the palate.
Happy Canyon Piocho Bordeaux Red Blend 2015, Happy Canyon Valley, California, USA$37.00Add to cart
Piocho Ranch was acquired by Thomas J. Barrack Jr. in 1992. Out of a love for the countryside and a ranchers life, the Barrack family developed rolling acres of vineyards. The peaceful and beautiful property sits nestled in the Happy Canyon Valley, a perfect location for growing grapes and riding horses. Two regulation sized Polo fields are groomed with the same care as the finest golf courses in the world. Piocho means “Where the two rivers meet and go to heaven.” The Happy Canyon Piocho 2015, a Bordeaux blend, has an inviting deep ruby color. Ripe black currant, cherry, espresso and smoky oak show on the nose. This wine is lush, sweet and open-knit, with a pliancy to its flavors of dark berries, licorice and chewing tobacco. The Happy Canyon Bordeaux Red Blend 2015 exhibits deep aromas of spice, dark bing cherries, wood, burnt blackberries and jam. On the palate there are slight herbal/floral flavors with minerality, dried violets and tobacco all surrounded by dense fruit. This a truly lovely wine that is wonderful to drink today when paired with big rich cuisine such as Santa Maria Tri-Tip. The wines structure will allow it to mature and age nicely for at least another decade! Dusty, slow-building tannins give grip to the finish, which repeats the cherry and licorice notes.
