The nose is fruit driven with fresh plum, bing cherry, spicy peppercorn and zinberry. The mouthfeel is soft with a hint of milk chocolate, sweet oak, and a long vanilla finish. The deep color and firm structure are enhanced by the addition of the Petite Sirah and the firm tannins softened by moderate oak. Enjoy this POIZIN with caution; it is The Wine to Die for!

The Carol Shelton Old Vine Mendocino Zinfandel 2017 is a treasure. Grown on the benchlands and slopes of mountainsides — this 60 plus year old vine Zinfandel was named for these wild- looking vines and also for the uninoculated, or “wild,” yeast ferment that was used to create it. Aromas of black cherry, ripe plum and raspberry fruit combine with a hint of graphite, cigar box, and vanilla-oak baking spice loveliness. Smoothly textured in mouth, and the palate is very creamy and round, with a finish that is long with lush jammy fruit. 76% Old Vine Zinfandel, 15% old vine Carignane, 9% Petite Sirah

The grapes for this wine come from their estate vineyards as well as vineyards farmed by other dedicated families in beautiful eastern Washington State. Reminiscent of the bold Abbot’s Table blends of past vintages, this 2017 bottling is rich and structured. A beautiful garnet red hue is luscious with bursting aromas of black currants, blueberry and cherry. A layer of white pepper spice and tobacco are interlaced with gripping acidity, roasted red pepper and earth notes. This bright red blend is youthful and shows great cellaring potential! The 2017 Abbot’s is beautifully structured with bright acidity and fine mouth-coating tannins. Graziano Zinfandel 2016, Mendocino$22.00
The Graziano Zinfandel 2016, Mendocino, comes from 5 different old vine Zinfandel vineyards scattered throughout the benchlands and hillsides of Mendocino County. Old vine vineyards such as Tournour, Kazmet and Zeller grace this fine wine. Many of these vineyards are still farmed by 3rd and 4th generation Italian-Americans. This vintage displays a rich dark purple garnet color and deep aromas of black cherry, boysenberry, plum, spicy sandalwood with hints of toasty oak. Uplifting flavors of plum, black cherry cola and a subtle of earthiness combine to give this full-bodied Zinfandel a generous mouth-feel. Rich full tannins and balanced acidity lead into a long, lingering finish. Enjoy with garlic and rosemary seasoned lamb chops, Italian sausage or spicy tomato pasta dishes. A grilled burger with melted gorgonzola in one hand and this Zin in the other hand is what the good life is all about.
