Quivira Estate Zinfandel 2017
A block selection from the Quivira Estate Zinfandel Vineyards 2016, Black Boar’s aromatic purity and signature Dry Creek flavors embody sense of place. The bold, rich style and red spicy fruit exemplify the qualities that define what is unique about Dry Creek Valley. This wine is crafted in the vineyard and finishes barrel aging in the cellar two years later for optimum balance. The late season heat in mid-August and early September posed a threat to more early ripening varietals, but nurtured balanced maturity across Quivira’s Estate Zinfandel. 2016 was a year that captured the elusive combination of both high quality and reasonable yields, providing diverse lots for crafting this terroir-driven Zinfandel. A classic vintage, showing all the trademark signatures that make this wine quintessentially Quivira.
Concentration and density set the stage. Aromas and flavors revolve primarily around dark fruit while red fruit, spice, and barrel overtones add layered complexity. Blackberry, boysenberry, plum, dried cherry, and baking spice are most prominent. The generous entry is framed by juicy acidity and suave tannins.
