Rose Rock Chardonnay 2016, Willamette Valley

Home > Region > Region - Oregon > Rose Rock Chardonnay 2016, Willamette Valley

The Rose  Rock Chardnnay 2016 is made by the famed Domaine Drouhin people! Super fresh aromas of lemon and lime zest, leading to fresh white peaches. This has a very impressive sense of purity and clarity that follows to the fresh, linear palate. Impressively rened chardonnay.”  This Roserock Chardonnay is vibrant and round, with broad floral notes and energetic touches of noisette, peach and pear. The palate’s enveloping texture is balanced by clear structure and a sense of minerality. It is an elegant and complex wine, with a long finish, and I expect this vintage to evolve nicely over the next few years.– 94pts James Suckling; 92pts Wine Enthusiast Editor’s Choice; 91pts Wine Spectator, Top 100 Wines of 2018.

The 2016 vintage was great for Chardonnay, giving us
long, sunny days with mild temperatures that retained
the fruit’s natural acidity. Our fermentation was carried
out in a mixture of new and used French oak barrels
using native wild yeast, and periodically lees stirring. The
finished wine is rich and creamy with a charming
butterscotch component, and a trace of grilled bread in
    the aroma.

    $34.00

Schug crafted this Chardonnay from select vineyards located in the Sonoma Coast appellation, including the microclimates of western Carneros, southern Sonoma Valley and the Petaluma Gap. Produced in a lively, crisp style that emphasizes varietal character without the use of new oak, it has a spicy citrus bouquet that leads to juicy flavors of white peach and nectarine, followed by a sleek, juicy finish. Try it as an elegant aperitif paired with hors d’oeuvres, or with lighter dishes such as soups, salads, seafood and pasta dishes.

This label illustrates the Kraken attacking Dubrovnik. Aromatically the 2018 Rabble is driven with crushed pineapple, white peach, pear, and hazelnut notes. The 2018 vintage is characterized by being a drought year, which highlights the minerality in this wine. Wines from these years typically exhibit an interesting saline component “underneath” the fruit. On the palate the 2018 Rabble Chardonnay has luscious mouthfeel with bright acidity. The flavor profile begins with citrus, pear and transitions to a tropical laden finish driven with pineapple and guava.
