Sbragia Cabernet Sauvignon 2017, Andolsen Vineyard
The grapes for the Sbragia Cabernet Sauvignon 2017 Andolsen Vineyard are purchased from the family physician and longtime friend Dr. Andolsen. The steep, terraced vineyard is located in Dry Creek’s western foothills. The fruit is selected from their favorite blocks on this small vineyard. Dry Creek has not been historically known as Cabernet country, but we believe the same conditions that bode well for Zinfandel seem to also be doing well by Cabernet. This wine has herbaceous and floral notes with a layer of black currant and black cherry.

Madrigal Cabernet Sauvignon 2015, Napa Valley, CA$45.00Add to cart
Since the late 1930's, three generations of the Madrigal family have farmed some of Napa Valley’s finest vineyards. Chris Madrigal’s father, Jess, a retired member of the US military, started the family’s vineyard management company that today manages over 800 acres. In 1985 – the same year that Chris began to work with his father’s vineyard management company – they began overseeing the vineyards of Clos Pegase and Duckhorn wineries and growing grapes for other premium wineries including Cakebread Cellars and Chateau Montelena. As their reputation soared and while still working the vineyards as often as seven days a week, Chris realized his dream of establishing the family’s own winery. From the outstanding 2014 vintage, this is a big, rich Napa Valley Cabernet with dark fruit and spice aromas and a hearty core of currant and black cherry flavors. The Madrigal Cabernet Sauvignon 2015, Napa Valley has all of the Bordeaux varietals in it (75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Petit Verdot, 8% Cabernet Franc, 3% Malbec, 2% Merlot and comes from Madrigal's Vineyard and Levine Vineyard on Atlas Peak. Happy Canyon Piocho Bordeaux Red Blend 2015, Happy Canyon Valley, California, USA$37.00Add to cart
Piocho Ranch was acquired by Thomas J. Barrack Jr. in 1992. Out of a love for the countryside and a ranchers life, the Barrack family developed rolling acres of vineyards. The peaceful and beautiful property sits nestled in the Happy Canyon Valley, a perfect location for growing grapes and riding horses. Two regulation sized Polo fields are groomed with the same care as the finest golf courses in the world. Piocho means “Where the two rivers meet and go to heaven.” The Happy Canyon Piocho 2015, a Bordeaux blend, has an inviting deep ruby color. Ripe black currant, cherry, espresso and smoky oak show on the nose. This wine is lush, sweet and open-knit, with a pliancy to its flavors of dark berries, licorice and chewing tobacco. The Happy Canyon Bordeaux Red Blend 2015 exhibits deep aromas of spice, dark bing cherries, wood, burnt blackberries and jam. On the palate there are slight herbal/floral flavors with minerality, dried violets and tobacco all surrounded by dense fruit. This a truly lovely wine that is wonderful to drink today when paired with big rich cuisine such as Santa Maria Tri-Tip. The wines structure will allow it to mature and age nicely for at least another decade! Dusty, slow-building tannins give grip to the finish, which repeats the cherry and licorice notes.
