Simi Dry Rose 2018

Home > Region > Region - California > Simi Dry Rose 2018

The Simi Dry Rosé 2018 is a tribute to the Simi family’s matriarch, Isabelle, who had a passion for growing roses. The color is lit from within, a vivid coral pink. On the nose, find ripe strawberry, watermelon, tangerine, and a hint of white flower. These enticing aromas set the stage for the palate of fresh strawberry, red cherry, citrus, and melon. This Rosé is forward and focused with bright acidity, a nice body and structure, and a lengthy finish. While this Rosé is predominantly made from Cabernet Sauvignon (64%), they blended in 21% Merlot for softness, 6% Malbec to spice things up a bit, 5% Syrah, 2 % Zinfandel, and 2% Graciano for structure.

Sean Minor was born in Kansas but he began his career in the wine industry after a formal education in finance from Arizona State University where he also met his wife, Nicole. They moved to California after graduation, where he began working for Napa Valley’s Beaulieu Vineyard. At the same time he took classes at U.C. Davis in Viticultural and Enology in hopes of developing a further understanding of grape growing and wine production. Then Sean moved to the Pacific Northwest after being recruited by King Estate Winery (widely renown for producing Oregon’s largest and most highly regarded Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris) to manage the Estate. He met Will Bucklin, King Estate’s then winemaker, and developed an even stronger knowledge of winemaking and gained a lifelong friend. Sean learned firsthand the importance of site-specific viticulture, and ended up leaving King Estate to lead Benton Lane Winery then the family returned to California in 2001 where Sean had the opportunity to manage Renwood Winery and enhance his wine experience growing and marketing some of the Golden State’s best Zinfandel and Syrah. Four years later, he founded Sean Minor Wines.

This lovely Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon is ruby in color and displays aromas of lavender, cedar and raspberry fruit. Flavors of blackberries and raspberries combined with hints of savory spices coat the palate. The soft tannins and sweet oak balance lead to a long and lingering finish.

    $34.00

Schug crafted this Chardonnay from select vineyards located in the Sonoma Coast appellation, including the microclimates of western Carneros, southern Sonoma Valley and the Petaluma Gap. Produced in a lively, crisp style that emphasizes varietal character without the use of new oak, it has a spicy citrus bouquet that leads to juicy flavors of white peach and nectarine, followed by a sleek, juicy finish. Try it as an elegant aperitif paired with hors d’oeuvres, or with lighter dishes such as soups, salads, seafood and pasta dishes.

  • Long Meadow Ranch Sauvignon Blanc 2018, Rutherford, Napa Valley

    Add to cart
    $26.00

Long Meadow Ranch employs an integrated organic farming system using simple, sustainable methods. Each part of the Ranch contributes to the health of the whole. Vineyards and wine making, olive orchards and olive oil making, cattle and horse breeding all work together in complementary fashion, as do the egg-laying poultry flock and the organic vegetable gardens. All crops are certified organic.

The 2018 Sauvignon Blanc was harvested in two different periods – one at lower sugars and one at higher sugars. All of the grapes were ripe, but each pick offered different nuances. We loved all the separate wine lots and enjoyed the synergy of blending. This wine has classic LMR varietal freshness and charm; it’s difficult to believe this wine was grown in Cabernet country. Its fruits range from citrus to kiwi to just-ripe peach. The salty and mineral characteristics which grow out of our terroir and cold fermentations have become signature and reliable. The finish is crisp, full-of-esters and balanced.
