Teeter Totter Cabernet Sauvignon 2018

Home > Region > Region - Washington > Teeter Totter Cabernet Sauvignon 2018

Born in Lyon France and gaining his education from the University of Bordeaux, Benoit worked at numerous French wineries before getting a job (with the help of his friend and mentor Michel Rolland) in Napa Valley with Andy Erickson. He consulted for the likes of Screaming Eagle, Ovid and Arietta. Today, Benoit is the winemaker for Realm Cellars, Hartwell, and Kata, as well as numerous other labels, including his own project Fait-Main (which translates to “hand-made”). Benoit is the mastermind winemaker who has been awarded eight 100-point scores from Robert Parker for the wines he has produced for Realm, in addition to others we cherish and champion with pride: Jack Quinn, Kata and Fait-Main. He was Andy Erickson’s right hand man at Screaming Eagle back in the day and also the protégé of the world’s top consulting winemaker Michel Rolland. Let’s be crystal clear, he is a ‘Cabernet Genius’ and Teeter-Totter is no exception!

This beauty boasts a saturated purple color as well as a classic bouquet of creme de cassis, licorice, toasted spices, and tobacco. Deep, full-bodied, and powerful, it still has the class and purity of the 2017 vintage front and center.” The 2017 vintage is powerful, well balanced and boasting with fresh aromatics. Pops of blackberry, raspberry and vanilla first grab your attention then invites you into a bouquet of thyme, French lavender and violets. The tannins are soft and smooth, providing an effortless finish. Simply delicious!

During the economic recession of 2001, and Owen Roe’s first couple vintages as a winery, Washington growers were facing hardship in selling their fruit, come harvest time. At Owen Roe, they wanted to help our farming friends and prevent missing out on such well-tended, beautiful fruit. We were presented with the difficult and costly purchasing of grapes to process, cellar and bottle, waiting several months to recover our costs on the finished wine. To overcome this obstacle, we decided to bring back the historical business practice of sharecropping, resulting in the aptly named wine, “Sharecropper’s.” This partnership meant that Owen Roe would take the fruit, make the wine and once it was sold, share the profits with our growers. This remains an important part of our history and due to the success of this wine; we are now able to pay our growers upfront. Everyone’s favorite go-to weeknight Cab does not disappoint in 2017. Sweet aromas of blackberry, candied fruit, vanilla and brown sugar leads to a more savory palate of pomegranate, green pepper and oil cured olives. This Cabernet finishes with bright acidity and lingering tannins. We recommend opening this wine now and enjoying it at a young age, however, this will age well for 4-6 years when properly cellared.

This wine presents a smooth body and a sweet and persistent finish. Nice with red meats, pastas and hard cheeses. We had it last night with tri-tip and it was delicious!

    $45.00

Since the late 1930's, three generations of the Madrigal family have farmed some of Napa Valley’s finest vineyards. Chris Madrigal’s father, Jess, a retired member of the US military, started the family’s vineyard management company that today manages over 800 acres. In 1985 – the same year that Chris began to work with his father’s vineyard management company – they began overseeing the vineyards of Clos Pegase and Duckhorn wineries and growing grapes for other premium wineries including Cakebread Cellars and Chateau Montelena. As their reputation soared and while still working the vineyards as often as seven days a week, Chris realized his dream of establishing the family’s own winery. From the outstanding 2017 vintage, this is a big, rich Napa Valley Cabernet with dark fruit and spice aromas and a hearty core of currant and black cherry flavors. The Madrigal Cabernet Sauvignon 2015, Napa Valley has all of the Bordeaux varietals in it (75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Petit Verdot, 8% Cabernet Franc, 3% Malbec, 2% Merlot and comes from Madrigal's Vineyard and Levine Vineyard on Atlas Peak. The wine has excellent balance, soft tannins and a long, delicious finish. 1461 cases produced.
