True Myth Cabernet Sauvignon 2019

Home > Region > Region - California > True Myth Cabernet Sauvignon 2019

Pure Paso Robles, this rich yet smooth Cabernet Sauvignon is loaded with elegant aromas of blackberry, blueberry, pepper and cassis which lead to flavors of dark red fruits with hints of cedar spice, cocoa powder and caramelized oak. These persistent flavors create a long lingering finish. While very accessible now, this wine will continue to evolve nicely for years to come. What a great treat – great taste and affordable price!

In 1903 the Pelissa family purchased 35 acres between the Napa River and the Napa Valley Railroad in Calistoga with a single $10 gold coin. Thus began one family's history in the Napa Valley. Today the same family owns approximately 1,000 acres in Napa Valley with over 300 acres designated as a preserve intact with its natural state and 635 acres farmed as certified organic vineyards.  Throughout the 20th century, the family grew and their experience expanded across the valley. Then in 1993 the heirs of the Pelissa family acquired the Oakville Winery property from Heublein – Inglenook.  The winery was originally built in 1877 by two Frenchmen, Jean Adolphe Brun and Jean Chaix and it was the 9th bonded winery in California. The “Brun and Chaix Oakville Winery” passed through various hands in the 20th century and when the Pelissa family acquired it they formed the Napa Wine Company and Bonded Winery #9. The winery and adjacent Pelissa Vineyard, totals 62 acres on the corner of Highway 29 and the Oakville Cross Road. In 2009 the first vintages of Oakville Winery Estate Cabernet Sauvignon and Zinfandel were released. This special Cabernet Sauvignon is a traditional and classic style that reflects old-school Oakville. Aromas of fall spice and cedarwood, along with bright red cherry jump from the glass. The wine evolves
with every swirl, releasing cherry licorice, chai spice, and cedar. The cherry fruit, along with currants an cassis bring this wine to life on your palate. A very well-structured wine with sturdy, yet balanced tannins. The wine will drink well now and over the next10 to 15 years.

  • 2018 Growers Guild (Sharecropper’s) Cabernet Sauvignon, Columbia Valley

During the economic recession of 2001, and Owen Roe’s first couple vintages as a winery, Washington growers were facing hardship in selling their fruit, come harvest time. At Owen Roe, they wanted to help their farming friends and prevent missing out on such well-tended, beautiful fruit. They were presented with the difficult and costly purchasing of grapes to process, cellar and bottle, waiting several months to recover the costs on the finished wine. To overcome this obstacle, they decided to bring back the historical business practice of sharecropping, resulting in the aptly named wine, “Sharecropper’s.” Now called Growers Guild, this partnership meant that Owen Roe would take the fruit, make the wine and once it was sold, share the profits with the growers. This remains an important part of their history and due to the success of this wine; they are now able to pay the growers upfront. Everyone’s favorite go-to weeknight Cab does not disappoint in the Growers Guild Cabernet Sauvignon 2018. Sweet aromas of blackberry, candied fruit, vanilla and brown sugar leads to a more savory palate of pomegranate, green pepper and oil cured olives. This Cabernet finishes with bright acidity and lingering tannins. We recommend opening this wine now and enjoying it at a young age, however, this will age well for 4-6 years when properly cellared.
